The simplest aquascape is the best and I bet you have no deadspots. Tank looks great

Thanks for all the kind words
Yes, to me simple is best. My aquascape is only three islands but my corals are growing out into the open areas.
When I set this tank up I wanted to have no dead spots and wanted alot of water movement for my corals. My only downside is I am running out of space to put corals. |

I got it from a local fish store. It was in someone's tank that work for the store and they brought it in to sell. It is a very cool piece. Very greeen and very shaggy.
I like it better than my green slimmers. |

I like to keep it simple
The only thing I add are Sea Lab 28 blocks (always have 2 full ones in my sump and alkalinty that I dose every few days. I think my skimmer does a great job and keeps my nitrates at zero. I watch my corals colors very close and if they start to fade just a little I will test my water.
I also try and pick out the very best corals and keep the more simple ones that I know I can grow. I am sure there are corals that do great in your tank and then some that don't for some reason. The key is spend the extra money but get the best looking corals. I do a 35%% water change each month. My lights run for about 8 hours per day and then my sump light turns on and runs the rest of the night and into the morning until my main lights turn back on. I also know my water is in good shape when I look into my sump and my chaeto is growing like crazy. If I am taking some out every month things are good. Hope this helps please let me know if you are looking for something specific but I try and keep it simple. |

How big were the corals when you added them? Were they all frags or were some added as colonies the size they are now? Nice tank! I also have the 3 island set up going in my tank.

Questions
Sorry, it is 8 bulb fixture.. (ATI) 5 blue 2 purple 1 sunlight
The red coral asked about has grown huge in my tank. One of my fastest growers about 3 inches x 3 inches when I got it. The other fast grower is the green slimmer. I try and get larger colonies mixed with smaller frags. Alot of people break down their tank and sell their coral so you can pick up some larger colonies. I always try to at least get a small mini colony since you know most of them are healty and adapt well in my tank. But, I do have a mix of large colonies and small frags. I go more for the different colors at this point since I don't have alot of room left in my tank. |

I like the rock setup. It doesn't just look like a bunch of rock stacked up to make wall. I was thinking of something like that in my new 195ga.
How did you keep the rock from falling? Is it epoxied? Or tied together? Or is it just stacked? Thanks, Tom |

Rock
It is really only 5 large pieces. I bought some large pieces since I knew I was going to make three islands.
Make sure you put them on the glass first and then put the sand in second. Finally, add the water. That will make them more solid and won't move. They don't really look that big when there is no water in the tank but the middle island stands pretty tall. |
