How to control remote devices with Apex clasic?

I want control a remote solenoid and my RO buddy with my Apex clasic without running a cable to them. Is there something like the old x10 modules? Hopefuly more reliable. I just want to turn them one once a week for a few hours. I forgoten and left the water on too many times.

just get one of those wifi smart outlets. you can program on/off times from your smart phone.

I do not want to control it with my smart phone. My Apex should be able to handle it.

Really not seeing how you can do it using your Apex if you don't want a cable running to it.
