New ATS on existing established tank with refugium

Hey guys.... have been missing from the forums lately just too busy with life.

I did recently get the Expressions LTD ATS added on to my tank. I have had a vipar spectra over chaeto in my refugium and pulling out a fair amount bi-weekly (several handfuls). I'm starting to feed my tank more however and expected the ATS to take off quickly due to the increased nutrients, but after 2.5 weeks it has just started to grown some slime / brown algae. Anyone ever add one onto an existing setup like this and how long did it take to fully seed? No question/doubt it will just wondering which will do better in the long run the chaeto with a ridiculous bright light or the ATS with its 4 grow lights hahaha

I'm running the lights 16hr a day now....started at 24 first week.

I’ve been using the Expression LED lights (4) on various scrubber configurations over the past 5 years and they always produced great growth and every diode is still operating. Great products in my experience. Good luck

ATS’s take time to start growing green turf algae. What you are experiencing with the brown algae is completely normal. It can take a couple months before you start growing the good green stuff.

thanks Slief.... I know it will take time and no rush as the tank is doing well, but was just curious. That was the info I was looking for.
