Do You Live Up To Your Screen Name ?
I've been in the hobby since the day I was born (Dad had an Oscar tank in the nursery). That was 5 decades ago and I have no problem I admit to being an addict.
I love my fish. I have a 400g SPS Display tank, that's part of an 1100g outdoor SPS system (build thread in the Large Tank Forum) and I also have a 90g planted tank. My yard has an accumulation of tanks that I collected always dreaming of having more and more tanks throughout the house (which wife approves of). From 15g to 780g. For me I have no problem finding more and more fish that I would like to take up residence under my roof. And it has always just baffled me when I see people posting threads called "Help Me Stock My Tank" "Or What Fish Should I Get". Whether a nano or a 500g custom install - and you don't know what fish you want?? Here is the current stock list of my 400g Display tank. This is only what's in the 400g display and does not include the fish in the other 700g's of the system. If you have questions about any of my fish, feel free to ask. This isn't a new collection. It's just kind of reached its peak.... What's left you might ask? Well, there is always plenty of room for more small blennies and gobies. And I would like to get 1 or more Interruptus. And when available I will try once again to make Colini's part of my collection. You can always try to double check my list by watching the tank on the webcam. www.o2manyfish.com/webcam --- Aquarium lights come on at 5pm PST and 11am on the weekends. Dave B

I guess sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
I try to always keep in mind that no matter how long I've been doing this or how much I think I know, there is always something new to learn from a fellow enthusiast. |

It seems to me that when people post questions about fish, it isn't that they don't have an idea of what they like, it is that they are asking for combinations will work with what they already have. As we all know, even a "good" LFS will send customers home with bogus information in order to make a sale. I think it is to these people's credit to log on and ask BEFORE they buy a sixline wrasse for their 20 gallon over stocked tank (for example). Aside from the people that log in an refuse the advice of experienced reefers (you see it from time to time), the majority of people even with "dumb" questions are really doing the right thing by getting on and asking for advice from people who have learned things the hard way.

Build this PC in Aug, costed me $4500.. Ive been building computers since i was like 14 im 32 now. TBH though i have too many hobbies, probably more then most people lol. Usually people have 1 or 2 real hobbies... And women i noticed have none except traveling i guess.. lol any woman i talk too when i ask what hobby they have.. its nothing. Kinda sad actually.
Im into computers, aquariums, Jeeps, astronomy.. all expensive stuff, Like that pc was $4500, my Jeeps i have a 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer that ive mostly restored still needs work, but that Jeep was $4500 3 years ago when i bought it and ive put $4000 or so into it. Astronomy, i have a 12 inch dobsonian telescope meaning the mirror is 12 inches wide.. That plus the lenses and so forth was a couple grand.. My Aquariums cost thousands in fish supplies corals plants, whatever.. Im a very expensive guy lol.. I suppose if i stopped all my hobbies i could probably travel the world and snap selfies at machu pichu and the Eifell tower, or the roman colosseum, or the great wall of china ect... But tbh my hobbies keep me happy for much longer then a few hours and days and some pictures do. As for how many fish i have.. i never really counted.. lets do some counting.. 122 fish roughly in 8 fish tanks All are display tanks, just in diff parts of the house. I have 350 gallons total 1x Foxface rabbitfish 1x Yellow tang 1x Kole tang yellow eye 1x flame hawk 2x scooter blenny 1x bicolor dottyback 2x three stripe damsel 2x yellow tail damsel 1x azure damsel 3x Talbot damsel 1x bangai cardinal 5x green chromis and for fresh water 7x Discus 5x Angelfish 1x Jack dempsy 4x Betta 50x Neon tetras 4x Cory cat 4x Denison Barb 1x Siamese algae eater 1x common pleco 2x diamond tetra 20x red platy 1x Red Tail shark 2x cant think of their name buts its 2 of em lol. Fortunately for me, I didn't pick a clever screen name when I joined, so living up to it is pretty easy...
But yeah, my first fish tank was when I was about 8 years old (in the early 70's!). |
