Tang won't eat Nori
My purple tang will eat from the rocks and also meaty foods but he will never eat nori or wakame. I tried sticking a sheet with a magnet or cutting it into little flakes in the water column, it will not eat it at all, even my anthias eat some nori now.
I noticed he has one eye popeye yesterday and I am starting to think about nutrition.. I supplement foods with selcon quite frequently.. I heard you can also feed brocolli and bananas is this true? |

Have you tried attaching it to the rock work? I've heard some people have success using this method. Its worth a shot.

My dad had a Blonde Naso Tang for about 2 years, he added a few different kinds of Nori and the Naso wouldn't even try it. He too feed foods with vitamin supplements.
He upgraded from a 92 gallon tank to a 180 gallon tank and added a Sailfin and Hippo. Since he added the other two Tangs the Naso is the first to the algae clip and always ends up eating most of the algae. Not saying to add another Tang to your tank but just an observation. I would think if you are soaking the foods the fish eats in vitamins the fish should stay healthy. |

I've heard of people getting around this problem by using a rubberband to wrap a sheet of nori around a small piece of live rock and droping the rock to the bottom of the tank. You should only have to do this a few times until the tang gets used to eating nori, then it will recognize that is food on the veggie clip.

Do it this way, tie a piece to a small mag or a piece of rubble and it should take no more than 2 days to start eating from it:
Even baby tangs and triggers learn to eat from it. Good luck with your tang. Found more pictures: I even tie vegie to it: |
