Went today and picked up the shims to hang the door and all the electrical parts I needed. Looked at the plywood but the nice stuf was pricy. I'm going to go with the cheeper stuff and pair with a textured paint so u won't know the dif

Looking good! That's a proper fish room!!

You might want to consider doing some slatboard on the upper half instead of plywood to hang tools, etc.. OR if price is a concern you can do pegboard (a bit cheaper) over the plywood.

Might want to add a couple cat 5 lines (just because it is 8 wires that can be used for a multitude of things) and or something for a camera or two in the walls? If you put a camera high up, put an outlet high where you might want the camera and you can run a wifi camera (just need power).

Where would I run the cat 5 to?

I wasn't sure of your layout but maybe from controller area to that area or just bury in the wall at a few places and run up to a place where you have a large coil stowed.... or having a hard wire for access point or. Just thinking outloud . Seems like no matter how much planning I do, I always need a wire for something! Maybe just a conduit that you can pull wires through would do the trick?

U thinking running it to the router for hardwiring it?

It is always nice to have a hard wire even though most stuff comes wifi enabled these days. Of course, you can always run what ever external to the wall so prolly no biggie. Just depends on how hidden you want everything.

I am just envious that you can have a fish room! When I lived up north with basements, it was sooooo easy to run stuff below and then up to tank. It was easy to fish wiring, plumbing, etc up because of the floor system access. Where I live now, I have to squeeze 10 pounds in a 1 pound sack!

I currently don't use cat 5 on my tank at all that's why I ask. I like the hard wire of apex though. Nice thought

Hardwiring always takes out a point of failure. If you can hardwire it I would

Big thx to snake1 for helping me / doing it for me ..... Adding two dedicated circuits into my breaker box and running the wire to the new room. A home run as the electricians call it. The rest will be up to me to complete. I will be wiring up 11 sockets in the room. Everything I have done I draw an old fashion sketch up of what I'm going to do first.

I started on the drywall tonight. I got 1 side about half way done before the women called me in and said I had to stop working for the night this is going to take a long time like this. I am using reg drywall on the garage side and the purple drywall on the fish room side.(it's the new green board)

Roger

Looking good!! Is the drywall touching the floor? If so, I would trim up that drywall about a 1/2" or more so it does not wick up moisture and start swelling.
