Brain coral questions

Hi, so I'm looking at picking up a maze brain and/or a trachi this week from the Lfs.

In the past with my torch and blasto I removed them from the frag plug/disc that they came on. Is it safe and recommended to do that with brain coral too?

And if my early research is correct, the best place to put them is on the sand bed to avoid rocks?

I did not remove the plug for my trachies but certainly would be safe to do so.
I did do a dip in revive and a brush and rinse, but since the plug is in the sand, you can’t see it.

Thanks Uncle. I picked me up a maze brain, and it certainly popped right off the plug easily.

If it popped off then great, no plug.

I was concerned about damage on mine, really attached good.
