Grafted Monti cap, or normal?
I'm going to a frag swap tomorrow and have been wanting to get some Monti caps for my tank. Does it make sense to buy one already grafted, or is there good success with grafting that I could just do on my own? If on my own, I believe buying the non grafted frags would be cheaper, so I'd let them grow out for a while, then frag off peices in a few months to try to grafted myself.
Any thoughts? Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk |

you'll be able to pick up monti cap frags cheap. I'd grow them out like you suggest and graft them myself. It might take a few tries to get it right, but no worries - they mothers will be growing plenty fast enough to give you ample frags.

Time is $. Get what you want now. Grafting a cap isn’t just a, “hey let’s do this”.

Hmm, still a tough decision. I guess I'll go with my gut when I see what's available. I'd love to try my hand at grafting, and I'm sure Monti caps are the best place to start. Thanks for the input all! I can't wait for the frag swap today. Couldnt sleep last night I was so excited. My wife actually wants me to spend alot more on frags than I was originally planning on, so im excited to have more budget to get some good frags.
Do the grafted caps grow just as fast as the normal ones? Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk |

I ended up getting two separate monti caps. There were a couple of nice grafted ones, but were sold before I got to them, so I settled for separate and will try grafting myself once they are big enough to frag.
