Hello Tucson Reefers...
I thought I would introduce myself, show you my existing tank and let you know about my current project.
My name is Dan, I am a native Tucsonan. I have been in the hobby my entire life. I grew up in the freshwater hobby, mostly with Oscars and African ciclids. About 16 years ago I switched to Saltwater with a 70 gallon show tank in my living room. I have fond memories of my kids falling asleep in their "rockers" watching the fish as babies. When we renovated our house, I was forced to give away that system and was out of the hobby for several years. Around four years ago, I set up (through Rob at SW) a 150 gallon reef tank + 40 gallon sump in our master bedroom of our new house. From then on, I have been completely hooked! My wife and I lay in bed at night watching the fish and corals as the lights dim in the tank over a 45 minute period. The kids are getting a little older, two in high school now, and through a little negotiations and compromises, my wife is allowing me to set up an "in wall" 850 gallon main display, +/- 1,500 gallon system in our living room with a 200 sq ft. fish room. The tank was ordered through SEA and AGE in Garland, Texas. It arrived last week and is in storage why I prep the house for the construction that will soon be commencing. I will be starting a new thread to follow its process. Attached are some pics of my existing tank: |

Welcome Dan! I am already very excited for your build thread on that 850! I love big tanks and what more could a reefer ask for than a designated fish room!!! Good luck on your build and hopefully your ready to provide some awesome pictures!!

Welcome Dan and fish head
I will be curious do see the water change system on that large system. I have read about ones that use in line chambers for mixing and dumping water. I think it was David saxby.

Hi Tucson Reefers. My name is George and have been into reef keeping since March. I have a 29 gal Oceanic Biocube and have been getting it up and running. Currently dealing with an outbreak of cyano but I think I'm winning the war. No pictures yet but will try to post some soon.
I happened to get into this because I walked into GQfish one day. Having a LFS almost next to your house has its upside and downside. Upside is it is easy to walk over and get water, coral, fish. Downside is its easy to walk over and get water, coral, fish. :-) |

Hi, my name is David as some of you may know already, I have been in the hobby for about 3-4 years and flooded a couple of rooms, cracked a tank, lost some fish to ick and electrical shock (myself included) it has been a crazy but wonderful experience. I have multiple mixed reef tanks that include a 90,140,14,8,and a 240gal. The 240 is awaiting its home in the wall I just have not gotten around in building a utility room for it yet. The 140 cube I bought from richpoolboy and is doing awesome, nothing has changed with it other than the live stock. This is the picture of the 140 cube what it looks like today[IMG][/IMG]

Thank You! here is the 90 and the 14. I just bought a nice 90 gallon from Gary so I am going to move the corals and fish from the 90 in the wall to the new one and my wife wants some aggressors to put in the 90 in the wall so I have another project to start lol. [IMG][/IMG]

lol my wife tells me that all the time, I even have a monthly spending limit to which I exceed every month. Eventually I will have the 240 going so I can start getting rid of the others.
