Thumbs up 30 gallon rimless tank

Hi guys ,
Well here is my new project.
I have been planning this for a few weeks, originally I was going to buy a 39g Cadlight, but after a little thinking, I decided to start this new project.
Materials used for this project:
+ - 33g rimless tank 25x18x18 $220
120 watt LED (blue and W) $240
MP10 ES Ebay (NEW) $165 I know, I stole this one
NAC+3 Bubble Magus skimmer $129
lock line (nozzle, 6" flex tube,
connector 1/2") $18
24x24 acrylic from HD. $16
100% silicone $7
Black silicone $6

I don't have the main pump yet
Hydor or maxi-jet 1200 ( I am thinking to move just about 10x the volume of water per hour)
Any way I am very excited about this project and please tag along, and please comment, and all advised will be well received.

looks good. what are you planning to use as a return pump? hard to tell but it looks like the last chamber after your bubble trap is only a few inches.

how difficult was it to make that acrylic chamber? I'm working on a 25 gallon cube - very similar to yours - and thought about making it an AIO to avoid having the hassle of a sump but I've never done anything like that. The only thing I've done is silicon the baffles in the sump for my 75g and those didnt have to be perfect because no one really see's them. I would really love to be able to do exactly what you did. I would save tons not having to buy the sump, return pump, ect and avoid having to drill my tank.

Well after over thinking the whole thin a 1000 times, I decided to pre glue everything first, The wall and the chambers together, then I will glue the whole thing as one piece to the tank, the silicone is very forgiving. My first chamber is going to have the removable shelving, with sponge, charcoal and ceramic rings.
You need to get a couple of quick square and some tape; having everything on paper helps.
The baffles are basically cuts every 1/2 inch and 1 1/2 " long. before cutting mark everything. Good part right side up (blade marks on the back)
I hope that helps, I will be working on this in a couple of days. let me knows how yours comes out.

you should try making a media tray out of egg crate (or egg grate?) with multiple levels. You could put a sponge in the first one to filter out any debris, and then maybe carbon or purigen or something else. I would stay away from ceramic rings though.

nice job on that media tray, it looks good.

I would use some live rock rubble rather than the ceramic, works better. Most people stay away from the rings, bioballs, ect. because they tend to release tons of nitrates.
