It's a rare anemone! Thus the premium

(A rare amemone that oftentimes turns into a huge, brown, drab anemone.)

There is nothing rare about it. It's also not hard to find in the ocean or difficult to get to. It's about as easy to find and collect as a crispa or BTA. It's just rarely collected since hardly anybody wants it because it gets huge and has about the blandest color you can find on a reef.

And honestly, I would think it costs exactly as much as a crispa wholesale and DD just jacks up the price because they know that there will likely be someone who buys it even at that hyper inflated price.

I thought it was rare, never seen one in person.

Bluezoo also has a wysiwyg mag for 150.

They just sold two a few weeks ago for
Much less. Nobody going to buy it and they will re-list it at a lower price.

They may be rare in the trade due to above noted reasons but on the reefs of the Indo-Pacific they are as common as magnifica and crispa and about as easy to collect.

Those are pretty ugly as well. A local store had a nicely colored (for a mertens) one recently and got $400 for it but it was much nicer and had been in captivity for 2 years. I was thinking about setting up a cube for it but decided against it in the end.
