Overflow plumbing question (Herbie to Beananimal)
So I had a random thought. Say one only has 2 holes drilled for a Herbie style overflow on a 125 gallon tank. What if I had the one line (gated @full siphon) and the other line with a t fitting in the box. The middle having a 90 degree elbow extending into a dry pvc emergency pipe, and the other end of the T (which would be pointing upwards) extending so it would act as an open channel stand pipe. Idk if it would work but it was a random thought I had.
So again -one PVC, gated and @full siphon -the other pvc in the overflow box would be a T fitting, the upwards facing hole acting as open channel, and the middle left pointing end connecting to an L fitting and above the water line as an emergency pipe. I guess I’m trying to alter the Herbie into a beananimal? |

The issue is that your T-ed line is still just a single drain line... so if the open channel plugged, the emergency drain would also be plugged and thus not work in the case of an emergency.

Yeah, the inconvenience of a 3-hole bean is that it requires ...... well, 3 holes LOL
