Thanks for this thread! It inspired me to get my own "Fish Cupboard" going!

They're 55g tanks I found on eBay. Salt in left... RO in right.

RO tank has a float switch so it tops itself up automatically:

The aquarium itself is a couple of rooms over. Water is drawn to the sump from the storage tanks with a LiterMeter III for automatic water changes and ATO.

See page 4 of my build thread for loads more piccies and complete info: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...2088904&page=4

What is everyone using in their brute containers, a bulkhead or uni-seal? Looking to connect two brute containers (one for RO and one to mix salt) but didn't know how to drill/make a seal in a curved container. Thanks!

I used uniseals on my 55 gallon drums. The work really well. They would work perfect for brute containers as well.

Just finished mine this weekend. It needed to be portable so I modified a Harbor Freight garden wagon.

That is the first "mobile" saltwater mixing station I've ever seen. Pretty cool if a mobile mixing station is what you need.

^ awesome idea making the level indicator with the clear tubing.

How much would you say all this ended up costing? (everything except the ro unit.)

Great ideas everyone.

Don't remember who it was, but where can one find reef safe 1/2' electric solenoid values to add.

Has overflows to drain to the sink in case of float valve failure, and filled from RODI on other side of room

I purchased 2 of these a while ago, Now i wish i had gone with something with a removable lid big enough to get in there to clean or add salt quickly. If I keep these, Ill have to cut the tops and then find some type of slip over lid.

Padrino you may check the size against the brute trash can lid they fit over some of the barrels (may be a little loose).

I just finished building it yesterday and I am now filling it for the first time. The test run went well so he goes the real thing.
