My sand bed is only about 1 - 2 inches and I'm using Caribsea Seaflor Special Grade Reef Sand

I've been looking for this thread for the past three days. A little consistency goes a long way. Last time it was on the front page but that still has an old one. The time before that it was a free floating thread in reef discussion. And now it's a sticky.

Regardless, I wanted to congratulate you on a huge honor. Your tank is jaw dropping and an inspiration for me and I'm sure many other reefers. Congrats on your success

Beautiful tank. I have always been a fan of your tank since I saw a picture you posted of a T5 lighting combo when I was shopping for a light combo last year.

Speaking of T5's, how long have you been using the aquatic life bulbs?

Didnt you use ATI bulbs before in this combo?

5B+
1P+
1Coral +
GE6500

Thanks, and great job!!

Joe

Hey Joe,
I've been using the Aquatic Life bulbs for about 4 months now. They seem to be an up and coming lighting company and when I heard that their new bulbs were made in Germany, I thought I'd give them a try and so far so good. The PAR numbers are equal to the ATI bulbs and my corals don't seem to know the difference.
And yes, that was my previous combo.

Thank you for the compliments everyone.

I google'd Lee Mar tanks and when I clicked on their link it doesn't seem to be working. They based here in Souther California and see them a lot on the western United States.

Wow i like the setup! Just starting to look into reef tanks and planning. Still deciding between T5 or LED.

This is just my opinion.... I feel LEDs is technology that is constant evolving and hasn't reached its peak yet (again, just my opinion). I think once manufacturers stop coming out with new LED fixtures every month, LED technology will have reached it's peak and I would consider it then.

Hi Mike !

Agree with your opiniion about the LEDS is in constant evolution however I have decided to use them because the Metal Halides are great lights but comsume too much electricity and produce too much heat. I have noticed big changes in the coral health specially the softs and lps.
