good question, I'm having a hard time removing it with no water in the tank. Vinegar, Muratic acid... can't use that stuff with the tank running.

It begins-Please take your seat and fasten your seat belt. And also make sure your seat back and folding trays are in their full upright position.

If you are going to use Tunzes or a Vortech in this tank, make sure you have your live rock on the bottom glass. Otherwise, these two pumps will blow the sand away from the front and sides and shift your reef. I have two Tunze 6101s and they did a number.

Learned from bitter experience in my Tech 120-now bare bottom.

This is one addicting hobby if I must say. When it comes to me, the best part of this hobby is the initial set up of a marine tank such as concretereffer is doing now. Setting up the equipment, aquascaping, adjusting water parameters, looking for hitchhikers on the live rock/sand, and even battling with ammonia, nitrite and nitrates is fun and exciting for me. Also, the addition of the cleanup crew, some corals, and finally the addition of live fish is an incomparable exciting experience especially when you know you have a top of the line aquarium such as these tech tanks. The day I decided to get into this hobby 6 years ago was the day that I discovered a hobby full of love, hate, joy, tranquility, passion, excitement, discovery, heart break, and last but not least, therapy.

Hope it's the same for you all.

With the proper possitioning of the pumps your sand will be ok. Using a wavemaker would help a great deal.

newyork- This is an upgrade, I just tore down my 90g the other day and all my livestock is in a Frag-Tank & sump. My live rock (430lbs of it) is in a 100g Rubbermaid stocktank.

I am wondering if it is possible to make modifications to the euro brace such as drill extra wholes on the back side so tat I can install a Aqua Fuge HOB refugium to my 90. Has anyone tried making modifications to the euro brace with success?

Does anyone use the Tunze 6055's on their tanks?

I am thinking about getting two to increase flow.

I've got a 6101 in my 70 gallon that works well for my LPS's.

I had two 6101's in my 120 and would have like a little more flow for my SPS, flow options and control are hard to beat though.

Do you think two 6055's will be okay for my 120?

Should be, depending on the rockwork. If your doing mostly SPS I would go for the big flow

I was going to use 2 of them- but was told they wouldn't be enough. My plan was 1 6101 in the center & 2 6055 (one on each end).

heres a little update of my tech 45.

this was back in october a few weeks after upgrading from a 20 long to the tech 45

10/06

a month later a few more corals and some additional marco rock

11/17

not too lnog after this last shot things took a turn for the worse, i pulled a noobie move and did not cure the marco rock before adding it thinking it was dry base rock everythin was dead already.. well that was stupid and it began to cure in the tank. then i got hit with a nasty case of dino's well as a result of these two events i lost about half my coral, some stuff was saved by fragging.

i have upgraded the lighting from a 150w 10k halide to a 250w 14k halide, re worked the sump to have a lerger fuge and a larger skimmer, plus using ro/di instead of LFS RO water ..

5/2

Going to change gears here for a second.

What is the best way to get algae off the front starphire glass?

I am hesitant to use a razor because I dont want any scraches. What does everyone else use?

concrete reefer,
i like how the 6055 hangs from the top of the tank. clean look and easy to clean glass with a magnet.
