Shipped Leopard wrasse... Day 2
Once acclimated into the tank she went right into the sand as many people predicted she would. Wondering about my next step... Should I dig up the wrasse and possibly stress it more than necessary or just let it be with hopes it will come out and start to eat?
What would you do? I took the risk to not QT her because I didn't want to stress the shipped fish more than necessary and tried to give it the most comfortable environment possible. I've killed more fish in the QT than in the display so considering this fish has issues accepting food, I'm hoping I made the right decision to make it as comfortable as possible.

should of QT, at this point I would just leave it, don't dig it up, the stress won't be good for it.

U should set up an established QT, so that when it gets to QT, it's just as comfortable as the DT.
Let it be at this point. It'll do its thing. Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk

Got it. I can't keep anything alive in a QT. I'll leave it be

I have had several different leopard wrasses over the years and never QT' any of them. I put all of mine straight into the DT. Never had any diseases or problems due to lack of a quarantine (that I was aware of).
I've had a couple bury themselves never to return, but most will pop back up at some point - may go a week or more until you see it again. I wouldn't try and dig it up, let it run it's course. All of mine took to frozen and a couple ate pellets.

Sometimes there day night clock is off depending on where they come from and it can take time for that to be on your light schedule. Not uncommon to not see for a week, best of luck that when it comes out it takes to food and no bullies.

What other fish do you have in the tank? Do you have a healthy pod population?

I have a fairly strong pod supply. Took out all the cheato and left it in the display for the past 4 days so there should be much more now.

Try not to dig him up. I had a wrasse hidden in the sand for 3 days and I was afraid he died so I went digging. He shot out of the sand and was probably ****ed at me for doing it.

I second what jmason95 & pciscott said. Leopard wrasses' are one of my favorite fish & I've had at least 2 in every tank I've set up. You might throw some mysis shrimp in tank before u hit the rack, in case it comes out at night & is hungry. Good luck w/ yours!

Found her dead 2 days ago. Have been a little busy and couldn't post. I will try again, possibly with a pair but will acclimate into the sump with some live sand in a Tupperware and they will be able to get the pod supply directly from the fuge

Sigh~ yea. She was super small also. About 1". Would have been a cool addition. Maybe picking one a little larger might be best. 1" is pretty easy to bully

I bought my blue star at Jan's Montclair. If you let them know you want a leopard, they can look for one at the wholesalers for you. Sent from my SM-N910T3 using Tapatalk

hey I saw a used 10x3x3 3-side Starphire tank. 2 internal overflows. Interested in going big now? lol...
If you don't want it, I may put a down payment on this tank. pay it off in the next few months and haul it home.
