250W Metal Halide Over 40g Long

Hello there, I am new to the forum, but have been in the hobby for about 2 years. I have the HQI biocube and had the 250w metal halide over it, but about 6 months ago I switched this out for the EcoTech Radion, so now I have nothing to do with the metal halide....

I will soon be moving to a new house and want to set up a 40g long tank to do anemones and LPS in. I am wondering if I could put my 250w metal halide to use for this? Even if it would not give full spectrum to both sides of the tank, would it at least give enough to make it so I could keep most things center based in the tank, and still have a decent amount of coral?

Any input will be greatly appreciated!
