lighting question - Kessil 360W

so I had a 120 gallon, stepped up to a 330 gallon, 24" wide x 25" tall x 11-1/2' long

-took all my stuff out of my 120 and put in the 330 3 years ago

-couple of years ago I put the Kessils on, have (4) of them

-my RBTA have shrunken, were about 1 foot, now they are like 5" across

-do I not have enough light? need 1 or 2 more Kessils?

-discovered today in my Apex that my color was at 90 and my intensity was only at 70, could that be an issue?

thanks,

I've had the same (splitting, always splitting) GBTAs for 15 years now, and they have been growing just fine exclusively under A360's since a week after the 360's were released (I forget how many years that has been now - a few). I haven't really had too many issues, although my greens never seem to get > about 7 inches before splitting.

I would say that a color of 90 is going to be pretty yellow. 0 is blue and 50 is balanced yellow/blue, with 90 being on the "too yellow for me" side. My peak sun "noon" values are a color of 50 and an intensity of 80 (if memory serves).

Edit... Damn - an 11 1/2 foot long tank? I have 4 360's over a 6' 125. If the anemones are directly under the lights then you should be fine, but there is no way you are going to get full coverage of that much tank with 4 360s (or 4 of anything). Damn I wish I had enough room for a 12 foot long tank.

Dave

ok set both intensity and color to 100, nem's and mushrooms did not like, turned back down to 80, they were happier by the end of the day; think I will move up 10 points per week, thoughts?

It's too hard to narrow down what's happening to simply the lights. It could be a combination of lighting, flow, excess nutrients, temperature, etc. Many of us run A360s without any issues. I ran mine at 100% on a tank only 12" tall and my BTAs loved it.

ok still struggling, turned up to 80 on intensity, everything was shrinking and hiding, after a week I turned back down, should I just get a PAR meter at this point?

I think you should tell us more about your system and not worry so much about the lights.

When did they actually begin to shrink?

-have (3) ehiem return pumps, Reef Octypus skimmer, (2) Marineland Bio wheel system with filter pads, reactor with pellets to reduce my nitrates (always around 5) all in an approximate 120 gallons sump

-have a 125 gallon refug with chaeto

-have (3) 57 watt UV running

-typical water parameters as needed, have Apex running everything

I think it is something that has been happening slowly over time, guessing it started about 3 years ago when I moved everything from my 120 to my 330
