Anyone have a giant hermit crab?

I picked up a huge hermit crab yesterday, was wondering if anyone else has seen something like this. In the picture he is being compared to a 2 1/2 in Monti frag.

As long as it’s not Dardanus sp. i think it’s fine. But I saw some people posted that some red legs attacked their corals.

LL a dardanus sp. I had one for years until he outgrew my tank (shell was about 10 inches long). They can be aggressive and will eat everything including corals and fish.

The one I kept never bothered a thing in the tank. My trigger used to pick on him and chew on his legs. The crab would flick his leg to shake off the trigger and go about his business. I fed the crab silversides or chunks of other seafood twice a day with a skewer. This mellow behavior is NOT the norm though. You're probably better off putting him in the sump, a species tank or returning him.

I have an oddball inverts tank (mantis shrimp, slipper lobster, etc.)
So if he becomes a prob I will stick him in there, or if my trigger bothers him.
