Water Parameters

Just got done checking my water:

Ammonia- 0 API
Nitrate- 0 API
PH- 8.2 API
Phosphate- 0.04 Hanna
Alk- 9.39 Hanna
Calcium- 485 Salifert
Mag- 1480 Salifert

I'm concerned with my cal and mag being too high. I do dose alk to keep it between 9 and 10 dkh. Looking for opinions. Thanks

Craig

Here is what I use as my definitive guide for tank chem parameters:

http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-05/rhf/index.php

Your Calc is slightly high but not overly concerningly so...Mag is high, however. If you don't dose either Ca or Mg, it must be due to your salt mix. Have you tested a new salt batch? I am assuming your salinity is 1.025 - 1.026...

Parameters are just about perfect. I wouldn't change a thing

All fine, but for me a better value for KH is in 8-9 range for Fish/mixed reef and 7-8 for SPS dominated tank.

parameters are fine..
No issues there..

cal/mag are a bit high but not a problem at all and very typical of many of the salt mixes out there..

If you have sps, I think your alk may be a little high for such low nutrients.

I agree that the calcium and magnesium levels are a bit high, but people run tanks at those levels without problems. A lot of salt products come with levels like that, so you might need to change your mix to lower the levels. I likely would finish up the salt on hand, and look for a mix with a bit better profile, but I am picky about such things. What product are you using?

What mix would you recommend?

Instant Ocean seems to be okay. A lot of Tanks of the Month run with it. I had no issues with it, either. Other mixes seem to be fine, as well.
