Fluval evo 13.5 surface skum
Hello all I'm running a 13.5 Evo. I'm having problems getting rid of surface skum. I have a power head breaking the surface of the water. I am still using the factory foam filter however I have added a chemical pure elite bag to it. I do keep the water level kinda higher in all Chambers so I don't really get the surface skimming effect from the overflow. Im also run ning fluvals protein skimmer. I guess any suggestions would help?

I raised my water level in main display to halfway in between honeycomb tape. That helped with the surface film. The rear chamber on right with return pump- the water level in there is 2.25 inches from the top. That happened when I adjusted main display water level. I would get rid of the foam block, just gonna be bad news down the road. I put a sticker there to keep eye on water level for top off purposes until I get my ato.

I recommend a wave maker opposite your return
Here is what mine looks like a few minutes after blowing off the rocks (twss). https://youtu.be/VGsDJdg_BS4 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have a the spec 16, also run the Fluval skimmer and a wavemaker. I wonder if your skimmer is running properly. How often do you do a WC and how many gallons? You might be over feeding?
