Nitrate absorption
Blue Life has a product called Niterate FX to absorb nitrate. How does it absorb from water column?

These resins basically are binders, much as GFO binds phosphate, or activated carbon binds organics. I don't know whether they will work in saltwater. Older technology didn't, but science moves on. I'd do some research before spending a lot of money on it.

There are nitrate binders for freshwater systems. I don't know how cost-effective they are, though.

I stopped keeping freshwater tanks a long time ago, so I'm not sure. The Blue Life products might be a place to start.
