its holding at 355 right now. How long does the ORP level stay this way?

Until some food gets added, or something similar dumps some organic compounds into the water, most likely.

is it possible to dose more than once a day? maybe once in the morning and once at night? To try and keep the ORP up more than just the brief stint? I mean...people dose ozone for a period of time to keep ORP levels elevated. Can you use peroxide the same way?

Well, no one really knows. At some point, the peroxide will start to act on the corals and fish, though.

I'd like to show everyone what I'm dealing with. These photos are after I covered the tank for the weekend. I took off the black backs this afternoon and there was still the brown waving algae on the sandbed. No bubbles tho, I will run the actinics only tomorrow.

My beautiful sandbed with my STN'n staghorn-->

You can see the brown fuzz of dino residue on the rocks about midway in my tank. You will also see the bright white STN'd pearlberry-->

Lastly, more brown dino fuzz on a rock by the sandbed-->

I'm going to dose another 5 mL in the morning before work...after work I will syphon the sandbed but filter the water through a filter sock then return the water back to the tank. Ill repost after pictures to keep track of whats going on.

Stick to the once a day to be safe. Although a lot of people have had success with this, I agree with Bertoni - verdict is really still out.

Looking at your pics though - it looks like you have it easy compared to what I went through... give it a week and a half to two weeks.

sneeyatch, just to be clear, did you have your lights off the whole time you dosed H2O2?

I did at first for 3 days, then I started my normal photoperiod and haven't adjusted it at all since.

I hope my experience can help. I had a Dino outbreak and I realized what it was right away and went with lights out for 2 days which minimized it but as soon as I turned the lights the dinos returned in force. I dosed 8ml of hydrogen peroxide yesterday to my 90 gallon and awoke to a spotless tank. I added another 7ml's just to make sure that they stay gone.

-So, I controlled the outbreak with lights out

-I used Hydrogen peroxide as the final 1,2 (t4azlews avatar)

I have no more dinos and it was only a 4-5day treament

My lights are now back on and I am running my regularly scheduled program!

Cool - glad it worked. It still kind of trips me out that something so cheap is so affective - especially in this hobby. Especially when folks are trying to market a product like this:

Woops - sorry. Didn't realize that site was bad news.

The product is called "Dinoxal"...

dosed 5 mL this morning, my ORP went from 280-366. Turned my main lights back on for the night time to give my Gig light again. I dosed another 2 mL tonight and my ORP dropped to 270 and is now on its way back up. No sign of stress from my fish. The dino's all over the tank have lost their strands, but still present on rocks and sandbed. was unable to suck the sandbed after work. Today was another period of darkness until 6 when I turned the lights back on. So 3 days really hurt them. I removed some dead corals that were just another thing for Dino's to cling onto. I'm increasing my halide times from 6-8 hours to better help my Gig gain back some color, I will also be feeding everyday to help it out. Will dose another 5 mL tomorrow morning and take pictures after work. I will dose another 2 mL at 6pm to oxidize more DOC's. Will respond tomorrow with the progress.

I appreciate the updates, keep them coming.

I will....I hope I have nothing but positive response from dosing peroxide...tomorrow I will post my Ph levels from tomorrow and my ORP levels from my APEX graph. If this works, I want it to help anyone who has had this terrible problem. I've invested some money in this issue, almost made me take a break from the hobby. Only thing that keeps me coming back is I know what the good times are-->

You can see when I dosed the peroxide and the rebound. I dosed another 5 mL this morning and dosed a total of 9 mL yesterday.

As you can see, my Ph has not been effected and I am not trying to elevate it.

Are you keeping a log of your ORP and dosing level and times? That might be very interesting data to have.

I am although there is really no reason to note the time since ORP drops immediately after dosing and immediately starts its way back up. It is very interesting. I'll post my Apex graph soon if I can figure out how.

Yea....when introduced to the system, the ORP dives down ~40...within 5 minutes the ORP raises to higher levels than before, then stablizes out.

I was able to syphon the sandbed today, I flowed the water through a filter sock and then put the water back in the tank. Its nice a white right now..I wish it would stay that way. I tried using a toothbrush and brushing off some of the brown algae off the rocks but its on there pretty good. You can see in the second picture the gnarly brown algae with signature bubbles coming from it.

I dosed 5 mL this morning and will probably dose another 5 mL before I go to bed tonight.

Maybe I missed it in the thread but are you currently maintaining your normal light schedule; and if so/if not, what is your photo period?

Here's my Apex ORP graph for the last 7 days. You can see about where it was before dosing H2O2 at the beginning of the graph. I have to say that I have not seen any change in dinos, any other algae, or anything at all really yet after dosing H2O2 for 6 days now.
