Baby yellow belly blue tang!

I just got him 2 day ago. He's able nickel size. Holds his own in the tank. I watch over him a lot of the day to make sure he's acting right. But I'm not sure what to feed him. I have a yellow tang as well and I feel him New Life Spectrum Marine food and algae sheets. Do I feed this yellow belly the same? I want to get the best food for him I can. Any suggestions???

Yes, that will be fine. Offering a variety of foods is best.

I thought so. It just looks like the pellets are too big for him to eat. I don't know if he's getting any. But it should be ok?

There's a good sticky on tank size in regards to housing tangs I'd recommend you check out. Is this in your 55gal that's only been setup for a month with 4 other fish? Nothing good happens quickly in this hobby.

It also sounds like you may not have quarantined him....my LFS that every one here trusts even said I should be quarantining their fish to be safe....so please do....I would hate to see a post from from you saying a fish died, what do I do because of a disease....:-(

As for feeding...ask where you got him from what they were feeding him.

Mine is slightly larger than yours, about half dollar size. Been in my tank going on two weeks now. I feed cyclopeeze, PE mysis, Hikari mysis, enriched brine, nori, and NL spectrum small pellets. He eats all of the above.

No I didn't. I want to cause I don't want him to die and he was expensive. But at the same time he needs to learn how to live like he would in his natural en vireo ment. And yes I know people crucify people for having tanks in something smaller than a 125g. But he's a baby and when I move out of this appartment I will be getting something much bigger. Plus I love this little fish. But back to ur point, is that something I am doing very wrong?

I know people hate the tanks in a small tank. But he's a nickel size and won't even outgrow this thank before I upgrade. I did let my tank run empty for 3 months before adding anything and my tank has flourished. I had some baby baby mushroom coral on the live rock I bought and now u can't even see the rock anymore. I also started growing another coral. I wish I new how to upload a picture so u can tell me what it is. If love ur advise! Do u have any about feeding him the food I'm feeding all my wish with and what else I should buy?

He grazes everywhere. But when I feed everyone he just swim excitingly with everyone but doesn't eat the pebbles. I put a algae strips and leave it in the tank. I think everyone eats that. I was just worried because I don't see him take any of the pebbles.

Try either using frozen food, crunching up the pebbles or buying a smaller size. I know New Life Spectrum makes a really small size just for tiny fish.

I made some suggestions above that are proven to work with my baby yellow belly. The Hikari mysis is smaller than the PE mysis so I would try it first combined with the cyclopeeze and enriched brine. Of those three it is almost certain he will eat something.
