Blacks are a lot more difficult to get them to spawn. I have 6 pairs & only 2 have spawned. The one pair spawned twice in the last month but it's the first time this year & it's Sept.

My black clowns took 3 1/2 years to lay but are now on a regular schedule. I think I'm gonna try and raise them for the first time soon. This thread helps a lot, thanks for that.

Are the original parent's from this post "Black and White Ocellaris"? I am unsure if this differs from "Black Ocellaris" as the post title says... I have a black/white Ocellaris that still has an orange nose and some on his body. Just wondering if he will eventually be as dark as the parent's from this post.

They're the same thing. They're also called Onyx. They will continue to darken as they mature. A lot of them will still have a little orange on their face but it's typically a dirty orange. How old is your fish? Do you have a picture?

Onyx is a different fish then the black & white clowns.

You're right. I meant that there are also Onyx and they will darken as well. I was rushing my post. That's why a picture would be helpful of his clown to see what he has and if it's similar to the OP. Thanks for catching that for me.

Here's a picture of the whole tank. You can't see him very well, I'll try to get a better picture later.

He should continue to darken up. He looks quite young, but that's a black and white occelaris.

You mean to tell me that after 4+ hours of reading this amazingly informative and wonderful thread, I get to the end just to find out that you aren't going to keep raising them??
How very depressing...

Thank you for your time and dedication to the thread, it has really helped me understand what's goin on and how to get things goin for myself.

I got myself a pair of Orange O's last week so we'll see how things go!
Thanks to you I'll have a head start on knowing what to do when I see eggs!

You are going to get caught for post padding. You might have posted 20 words in 11 post.

I am halfway through this thread and still reading. Thought I would skip through and thank you for taking so much time to document in this thread. It is so informative.

My WSMs laid their first eggs yesterday. We are excited and my son wants baby Nemo's, so I guess in a month or two we are going to try to raise some -if they keep at it.

Mods should make this thread a Sticky, with all the good info here!
