Nope, the 120 is brand new. And the 238 will be my first reef tank. Think I'm biting off more than I can chew?

Maybe you guys can help-- Can the plastic eurobracing be removed from a 120 Tech?

I don't think that would be a good idea, it was built with the bracing in mind. If you want a rimless I would sell the tech tank and get a rimless 120 from glass cages.

There's nothing wrong with GC tanks...they are decent.

What am I going to spend, if I bought an Oceanic 120 Tech series tank?

I've heard good and bad things about GC. Like all business, someone is not going to be happy with something.

The Guy I bought the 120g from has a GC 300g (He is setting up a 220g "ultimate" to replace it) . No lie, It looks like a 2 year old did the silicone, everything on that tank is sloppy. You couldn't give me a GC tank for free.

120 Tech Tanks are around $800+/- new, Tech stands are $500+/-. I got my tank/stand used (3 months) for $750.
He paid $650 for his Ultimate 220g (It might be a 210g, not sure exactly).

Cool thanks for the info, do you know the difference in the Tech Series and the Ultimate Series? Which one is better?

Utimate series doesn't have euro bracing and has "regular" overflows. Neither one is "better" it's all in what you like.

Look at the overflow on a tech series tank and then the overflows on the ultimate series or an AGA.

The silicone on my Tech 120 is sloppy as hell too.

I was not impressed with that aspect of Oceanic. That is something they should have a meeting about or something.

This is what I have been hearing, I wish they would keep a better quility control on these tanks. My silicone on my tech120 looks like a work of art But I do have a scratch on my left side glass. Its hard to be perfect these days.

I am in the process of buying a rimless GC for a frag tank and will upgrade to black silicone and make sure they know I expect it to be neat You know, color inside the black lines guys.

I'd watch out saying something like that to GC, they will not take that well, and probably ask you to take your business elsewhere, thats just how they are. I've read a lot from people who demand or complain on their work, get asked to send it back and walk on...

So the differences in the Tech overflow is that its just a bigger/wider overflow?

Can I see pics of these sloppy Techs you guys are speaking of? I know that not all of them are going to be perfect, but the 3 that I have seen were all pretty decent.

I'll post a pic of the GC 300g later on and you will see what I mean by "sloppy work". There is a reason the GC tanks are so cheap- you get what you pay for.

This is an Oceanic Tech thread- start your own for GC.
All I was asking is if the eurobracing could be removed, that's it.

i think the "eurobracing" should be removed too. Rimless looks so much nicer.

I second that, so I hope someone knows if they can be removed...or not...and if so how...

We need more pics of these tanks! Please post your Oceanic pics!

NICE! Nanogurl...nice! I could be happy with that gig!
Are you going to lay tile down underneath it before you setup?
Or is that already in place? More pics!

I saw a 180 gallon GC tank not too long ago and a 120 before that. They both looked pretty decent. I suppose it's hit or miss. But I don't want to keep this thread off-track any longer.

My Tech 120 has a pretty clean silicone job, as far as I can tell. I'll post pics soon.

There's a guy on this thread who said he pulled the plastic euro-brace off his Tech 120. But I couldn't get him to post a pic of it?
