Sealing the bottom of baffle question

I have done a lot of reading but found little on my question. When installing glass baffles do I need to put spacers under the baffles so I can get a bead of silicone between the bottom of the baffle and the bottom of the sump? I know about leaving 1/8” on the sides so I would assume this holds true for the bottom as well? If you do have a spacer, at some point I would pull it out and fill in the gap right?

Thanks for your help.

Usually the baffles are raised up slightly from sitting on the existing silicone around the bottom of the tank.

If thats not happening then simply run a bead and set the baffle in it..
