DampRid as substitute for Dow flake?

I seen a vid on YouTube about DampRid being used as a substitute for Dow flake in Randy's two part. Any thoughts? Supposedly it is more pure than Dow about 95% vs. 77-80% purity.

A number of people report that Damp-Rid works for them. It hasn't had the same testing as the Dow Flake product, though. You'd need to cut back on the quantity added, due to the increased percentage of calcium chloride, if you want to try it.

Has anyone on RC tried substituting the Dow flake with DampRid?

I have never used Dow flake. I went to damprid as an inexpensive source of calcium. I work at a hardware store and get it at a discount. I was using Seachem's calcium advantage. I find the damprid raises calcium just fine. There are no negative issues in my fowler or reef tank.
