Yea, one of the big reasons I can't do an open design. One of our idiot, and I do mean idiot, cats would jump in. That's just how they roll.

Nice rig - it's gonna look sweet once it fills in.

That is a really special tank! Your cats are pretty cool too.

The baffles in the sump look really high. I bet theres not too much room left when the return pump shuts down.

Hey Thanks!

I live in one of the northern suburbs, Upplands Vasby. Yeah Stockholm is nice especially during summer.

Thanks! I think the sump you are refering to is Snewcrash's? I dont think the baffles show on the pic i had of my sump.

However, i do have a small sump.. that i do not feel too comfortabel with as it just about holds enough if my return quits on me.. So i will build a new sump real soon.

Hey thanks!

Its 10mm, i do think 8mm should be enough since its so shallow.

Looking very well indeed. Can you provide a link to the IKEA website which shows the units that you bought for your tank? It looks so nice I will have to use this idea next time I want to build a stand for a tank.

I am going to follow this thread. This setup looks very promising.

Finally a build thread! Looks great Bjarne. I followed your buildthread on the Swedish forum, good that you started one here What are your further coral and livestock plans? Maybe I'll copy your idea with the IKEA doors, looks very good.

Thanks.

I’ll put the link for all doors since there are so many options ranging from the ”Rubrik” high gloss red and aluminum colored to the very cool ”Abstrakt”. A friend of mine built his stand using the ”Abstrakt” doors. Looks awesome.

I used the gloss black Applĺd doors.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/ca.../kitchen/11479

Hinges and door damper for hinges.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50132376

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80126213

Cover panel.

You could go as far as actually using a Base Cabinet as a stand if you build a tank that fits it. Makes for a clean look. Although i would get some extra support in it using beams. Quite a few people in Sweden are doing this with their smaller tanks.

Thanks Leonardo. You already know how much of an influence your tanks has been on me. Since its a temporary hastework i wont go over the top to get the coolest corals. I'll probable have around 7-8 kinds of acros and a couple montis coupled with some LPS.

A few more fishes might slink in but i havent really decided yet.

Looking forward to your new tank so i can get more inspiration! Is the timeframe still holding? I think you wrote that your new tank arrives at the end of January?

Great looking tank. Thanks for sharing the specific Ikea products. I live about an hour and a half from and Ikea and I've been planning a 30x30x24 stand using Ikea panels/doors...you've given me some ideas that will probably save me an extra trip or two.

I look forward to watching your tank grow. Great start!

Nice tank.

Go check out Opeth for me! They never come here. I have to drive to Atlanta to see good bands like Opeth and In Flames and I am getting too old to drive down there to see a show then drive back and go to work the next day!

Cool, I think it is a good idea to grow out some corals you like because I think fewer, larger colonies will suit such a sleek, minimalistic setup the best.

If the tank builder don't have any delay the tank will still arrive at the end of this month. So it will finally happen now
Already collected some nice Acropora and have 50 Apogon in order
