pickling lime=kalkwasser. I always use it as my top off. supplements CA and Alk. Balances pH if you are using a CA reactor. Helps to precipitate out phosphates.

If you try gourmet markets/ pickling supply stores you are probably more likely to find it. I got mine at a torrance gourmet/cooking supplies store but I forgot the name. They also sell it online.

Nemo, just I'm just making sure that you know that pickling lime is...... Calcium hydroxide. The only difference between products is the purity of the substance. These are in order of purity: Reagent grade, pharmaceutical grade, food grade, and if applicable industrial grade. I believe that what konadog has is pharmaceutical grade? whereas Mrs. wages is food grade. Now I use and have been using Mrs. wages for quite some time and have had no problems but if all things were equal I would go for the purest form available at a reasonable cost IMHO. BTW Konadog if you are ever in or near torrance I would gladly trade you some macro (2 caulerpa sp. and chaeto for some Ca(OH)2 if you are interested just thought I'd throw it out there.

jerradmills:

Is your link a better deal? I had to pay a total of $12.73 for two of them ($4.95 for shipping and handling).
