Bristleworms.

A lot of stuff has been identified in this thread so far, a good look through all the pics first can answer most questions!

Got in an order from reefcleaners today and had these two guys sneak in. I want to say the first is a peanut worm, but can someone confirm? Second one perhaps aptasia?

SushiGirl, I have another Id for you : )

This was growing in my mothers tank, but ever since we put the fox face in, it closed up and didn't come out. So I threw it in my tank the other day and its opening back up, its red on the outside, and green on the inside, I know its hard to tell from the photo, but my cameras battery died, so I used my cell.

Could you tell me what it is, and how I care for it?

Starting to open up again

Can someone id this? Not great pics. I tried to zoom in. They are growing along the back wall and alot on the plastic overflow. They are about 1/2" long and growing vertically like up towards the light. Its hard to tell the color for sure but I think its green.

And the 'coral on the rock' looks like a discosoma mushroom, or common shroom. Hardy, apt to spread, but nice. Just don't let it near rock you don't want to have to get rid of if it proliferates.

My hammer coral has this in it under the skin. The coil is about the diameter of a dime and about 3 spagetti noodles thick. The coil is relaxed/not touching the sides of another part of the coil. It is some type of worm with a little "door" over the end like a snail has. When I baste my reef it sends out a multitude of strings that cling together about the size of 3 spagetti noodles together.

I do have vermetid snails in my reef. They are smaller than 1 uncooked, thin spagetti noodle and only send out 1 long string. Their coils are tight and totally touching each other.

What is it and what do I do? If I cover the opening/door with super gel glue will it move onto another part of my hammer coral? Will gluing the door shut kill it?

This is one for Leslie H over in Invertebrates. I've not seen one like this---but I wouldn't kill it or discourage it without knowing what it is---if the hammer is happy, it'll outgrow it many-fold. I'd be very interested to know what this is: common spaghetti worm is vaguely possible, since I've never seen the base of one, but I'm really curious about this one. At first I thought 'coco worm', which is sold as an ornamental for quite a few bucks, but do look into this with Leslie.

I can't tell from your pics, Hydrologist & danderso.
Snorkel, sounds (and looks) like it could be a Spionid worm.

Snapped this the other day and thought it might be handy for people ID their critters:

Spaghetti worms:

It's very, very small... that's a dwarf cerith next to it and those "rocks" it's buried in are actually grains of sand.

Ok, I have looked through each post unless I missed it I didn't see these:
They actually look more purple in person
Photobucket

Photobucket

Another strange occurrence that I do not have a photo of is: at random times during the day 3 pieces of my live rock will shoot out "dust" out of a tiny hole...I have not seen any critter that could be the culprit...any ideas?

Thanks ; )

Nice pic, Aaarrrggg!

FidgetBridget, pics are kinda small, but maybe tunicates.
As for the "smoke" it may be something spawning or something kicking detritus out of the hole.
