Too bad u didn't have a bubble king to compare to. Comparing an ATB and an asm doesn't seem fair. Hahaha

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1407184264.960354.jpg

Bubble king double cone 250. And the collection cup on this skimmer is HUGE. Probably twice as big as an ATB 1050.

After 7 days on a 250g med bio load. And the DC pump is at 35w

Don't do it. The pumps are still made in China and I would bet they would fall apart at some point.

Performance wise, I would put them up against any similar sized needlewheel skimmer on the market today!

Never thought it would fill the collection cup so fast. I'm gunna run a line outside of my house and run it to a drain. I'll put a valve so when it gets full, I'll just open the valve and drain it every few days. Maybe even put a solenoid so I can have it drain automatically every 3 or 4 days.

I think my all time favorite skimmer was the WM K2 skimmer. If I could have figured out how to mount a PSK1000, I probably would still be running it.

Nice to know...!
But you know, it's not aDvast, it's aVast.

20+yrs myself, and I've found the easiest to maintain, clean, and run... is the ASM line of skimmers. They may not be the most efficient with aids like other skimmers, but they do an excellent job.

I ran an ASM-G5 on my 240gal reef, and it was the bomb-diggity.
Prior to that, ASM G2, G3, G4 and G4+ on my other 9 tanks. All worked well.

They aren't the smallest skimmers when needing a lot of skimmer for a small space (under a stand, inside a sump, etc), but they do their job and then some if you have the space.

... I'm looking for an under 24" skimmer now, to handle my 240gal bio load. I'm selling the tank/equipment and will be moving the sump into and underneath the stand. So I need a short, worthy skimmer (as my ASM-G5 is too tall). Any ideas?!

Whats the best skimmer on the market

ASM is a piece of crap skimmer
Almost if not all the Materials are really bad and cheap
Since It's a knocked off version of euro reef / reefdynamics make from cheapest material available.
Reef dynamics still makes awesome skimmer but it's too loud and not as efficient as ATB OR BK

Reef octopus probably is the best bang for the buck

If you want more efficient with great material and well thought off skimmer
Only 2 option IMO ATB OR BK

I totally agree with you Lawrence. I had one and although it did produce skimmate, the quality of the plastic and how easily they crack is why I would never buy one again. The teeth on the collection cup got so sharp I cut my hand pretty good while putting the cup on and taking it off.

FYI Reef Dynamics is out of business as of recently.

What model do you have now ?

BK is great but pumps will cost you arm and a leg when you replace them.

My friend have one not really impress with it.
But my 12.5 deluxe skimmed as much as my old Reeflo dart gold orca and it's probably one of the best skimmer I
Own it's just loud no matter what I muffle the air silencer
How big is the new tank going to be ?
