Wiring help IN MH Socket

I have a Lumatec MH/HQI ballast with 3 wire output. Black, White, and Green.

The Socket has the black and white screwed into opposite sides, where does the green wire go?

This is for a SE bulb.

Green is ground, attach to the fixture after you make sure it is wired as ground on the ballast. It should be but I would double check it.

So the green attaches to the pendant body? Not to the socket directly?

Correct, but it is possible for the leg that attaches the socket to the fixture to have a post for the ground. The ground will not be in contact with the hot legs of the bulb.

Maybe the ballast is bad or the incorrect kind? I apologize for being so electronically challenged. I have a multimeter. Is there a way to test the ballast to see if it is working? I got it used a couple years back and never used it.

What ballast is it? Not all ballasts fire all bulbs, if it has an ANSI label it will have an M number, like M58 or M80. Pics would be helpful as well.

That ballast will fire any 250 watt metal halide bulb. Either the bulb is bad or the ballast is bad. It will run the bulb even if the ground is not attached. Are you sure you didn't get the I put and output mixed up and did you check the fuse?

I tried to push the 2 buttons on the side, but nothing, do they need to be unscrewed to check fuses?

Yes but if the fuse blew you probably have other issues. Fuses blow for a reason, and I believe those ballasts are sealed in an epoxy. I would either send them in for repair or replace them.

Will this one fire it? I use it for my DE bulb and dont want to fry it by hooking it up to the new pendant.

The Hamilton M80 is the correct ballast for a Radium, they were made for each other.
