Yellow Coris Wrasse and Aiptasia Anecdote

I've had my Nanocube 12g setup as a reef tank for several years now.

A long time resident of the tank was my little yellow coris wrasse (canary wrasse, golden wrasse, whatever you want to call them). The tank was wonderful and balanced and the picture of health.

Then one day, he went carpet sailing. VERY sad. He was my little buddy.

I didn't replace him, I thought about another one or possible a six-line, but I didn't.

Over the course of about the last 6 months, aiptasia has slowly started reproducing out of control in my tank.

I know the plural of "anecdote" is not "facts", but is it possible that he was eating the tiny little clone aiptasias before they had a chance to become a problem?

I never had an aiptasia problem (for more than a year), then no wrasse., suddenly aiptasia problem.

I know wrasses are known to munch on a lot of different stuff, and he did spent all of his time scouring the rocks for edibles.

What do you guys think?

Very interesting and it does sound plausible knowing your whole situation with this fish and same tank. Sounds like a sign for you to get another little buddy
