Camo's 300g sps, anthias and angels reef
Introduction:
G'day well the tim ehas come for a new tank this will be my fifth reef tank. Since I have moved back home and the mrs is going to live in Melbourne for a while next year and no I'm not going couldn't think of anything worse than living there sorry Melbournians :roflmao: I will be staying put to try save some cheddar to eventually get my own place one day :crossfingers: . All of the equipment from my current 4x3x2.2 will cope with the extra 300 or so going the extra 2ft long. My aim is to create an easy to maintain system with mainly sps and lots of fish. I'd say I live keeping fish just as much as corals. I'm looking at mainly anthias and some angels with a few extras. I will be using prodibio and n/p bio pellets to hopefully create a ULNS but will see how I go as I think I'll have 40+ fish well I already do :roflmao: System Type: AAA (acros, anthias & angels) :roflmao: Strike up Date: July-Aug 2010 :crossfingers: Display Tank: 6x3x2.2 Display Lighting: looking into LEDs but may just get another mh with some t5 actinics. Stand: building this myself unsure of cladding finish. Hood:* N/A Sump: 3ft reef secrets Indy racetrack Refugium: going to go with a cryptic zone instead. Refugium Lighting: n/a * Support systems: prodibio and n/p bio pellets System Water: Natural salt water Display Water circulation: 3 Mp40w vortechs, 1 12000 and 1 5000 Guppys Return Pump: aquamedic ocean runner 6500 runs chiller and calc reactor Skimmer: super reef octopus 5000 external Evaporation Top Up: aquamedic auto top up Chemical Support: Calcium Addition: calcium reactor Carib sea ARM Alkilinity Addition: calcium reactor Carib sea ARM Other Chemical Maintenance: Magnesium Manual eventually dolomite in calc reactor Current Water Chemistry: If applicable Nitrates: Phosphates: Alkalinity: Calcium: Salinity / Specific Gravity: Magnesuim: Images: current 180g and old 180g |

I'll probaly just start off with a few sponges and some filter feeders, I will be blocking the light out completely. I have never used one on any of my systems bit I think it will bring a different bio diversity of food sources to the system.

Picked up my tank this morning and a few of the local members from Masq (Marine Aquarium Society of Queensland) gave me a hand to lift it into place.

Thnaks for the comments, I probaly spend 10mins a day if that just feeding the tank and a quick check over skimmer etc. I dose prodibio once a week and do 20-30% water change every 2-3 weeks.

Here is a before and after, the first has 2x 250mh and 5x54actinic t5 the second 2x 150w unit with a 2 white to 1 blue ratio. I have the long length of the unit gong front to back. It has the same coverage as my blumen bright mini reflector. Please excuse the poor photography was taken on my iPhone I could not photo the blue only it was a big blue blur lol.
