The Beast (450 g display with 750 g overall)
I have had a number of tanks over the years, and 2 years ago acquired this tank, which I had up and running. Unfortunately while on vacation, my aquarium sitter ended up dumping 5 lbs of baking soda in the sump which ended up nuking everything. This thread will showcase the new build of the BEAST.

The BEAST
Here are some of the pics showing the tank coming home, and then refinishing the stand prior to installing both.

Too bad about the baking soda but it looks like it is going to work out for the best. That's going to be a nice setup when you get it up and going. Good luck with it...

Thanks
I agree. As unfortunate as the accident was, it now allows me to reconfigure and re-aquascape in ways that I hadnt when I quickly moved all my livestock from their old home of a 180 gallon tank to the new home.

Tragedy
Long story. Basically I had shown the kid how to make a volcano using baking soda and vinegar. In playing on my work table next to the sump, in his excitment he ended up knocking the cannister of baking soda in the sump. Since i was away and didnt know until my apex started driving me nuts, by then constant dosing with vinegar to bring it down wasnt able to keep the parameters steady enough until I got home. Even with massive water changes which he had helped with, it just wasnt enough. Moral of the story, never teach kids to play next to tanks.

True, and as heart broken as i was about loosing all the creatures, it gives me a chance to aquascape more intentionally since im not moving livestock from one tank to another.
