Small light for frag tank
Hello all,
I'm planning to set up a very small frag tank in my sump, I have a vacant area where my Chaeto once thrived. It's only 18 by 14 and 8 inch high so I need a very small light, though it needs to be strong enough for good growth. My main tank has a LED/T5 combination, I'm not a huge fan of LED for growth, and T5 doesn't really exist this small size, so I was thinking of maybe getting a single metal halide 70w? What would be best? Thanks in advance! |

I would just get a used Radion XR15 Pro for like $200. Halide in sump area is way too many probelms. Heat, Changing the bulb, Salt creep, ect. All you have to do is wipe the radion off once a week and be done with it. Better controllability and wicked colors. HTH

Yeah, a Radion XR15, or a AI Prime, or a Kessil A80/A160, etc. (or any number of "nano" LED reef lights) would work well in that space...

If you have the space a Sun Blaze 4x24w T5 fixture would work. Yes, the bulbs will be slightly longer than the intended space but not terrible.
