Don't go through the router, I connect direct. No problems so far. I love these lights. 65% 4 hours, 7" above water, 2X fixtures over a 72x24x24. Started getting bleaching of SPS over 70%, so backed it down, not enough nutrients I suppose or these are just way powerful lol

I just noticed that the app is avalible though the App Store and not via test flight. The new app allows me to connect it though the router and no need to connect directly to the units.

So far so good.

By the way, what par readings are you guys getting off of the ap700?

What is everyone else out there with AP700 running for height/time/intensity/color? Post your tank dims as well.

I've been trying for months to dial this thing in....might just give up!!

Thanks!!

Sorry, my specs didn't go through.

10" above water, peak at 50% for 4hrs/day, 1 up from deep ocean blue color; tank is 30 x 22 x 18

Seems like enough power....but something tells me I need to bump peak. My LPS on bottom of tank aren't super happy. SPS on top don't have a lot of color.

Running a low nutrient tank and feeding three times per week.

Could it be
a) lots of surface agitation cuts par???
b) running them "too" blue???

Ideas??

Here is what I'm running

My AP700 about 10 inches off the water. I have the Red Sea Reefer 350 which is 48 x 21 x 20.
I have 2 Kessil A160s at the edges to supplement. I added these because I had to raise the AP700 too high to get full coverage - tank is in the living room and was getting too much light spillage.

AP700 has 1 hour ramp up and 1 hour ramp down and 7 hours at 43%
A160s run for 4 hours ramp up, 4 hours ramp down 4 hours peak at 45%

It took a while for my corals to settle in and start growing, start low because you can burn the corals with this light. I started at 33% and a couple months later I'm up to 43% and I just jumped 3% this week.

I had A360s before I moved to this light and I still burned corals. I have a Seneye Par meter which helps me with general coral placement but what I've learned is that even low light corals can be acclimated as long as you do it properly.

180, 7" from water. 65% peak for 4 hours. My SPS and LPS are loving it. I found that the corals like it better when I stopped playing with the lights and just let them do their thing.

My buddy came over months ago, measured 300+ PAR every where about sand level, lol. ~200 and plus at the corners sand level. All 65% intensity. Middle blue/white color.

Sorry to hear some of you are struggling however I hate to say it but...... I don't think the lights are to blame.
I am no pro, and my system is still young. I do think these are the best LED fixtures that are produced today. Though the app is lacking these lights are great. I love them.

Kessil AP 700 Owners Gather Here!

One day I'll buy some filters and a better camera. When I actually have some show colonies I guess. Tired a filter from my wife's camera on my phone here, helped to a degree. I have no complaints with the Kessil AP700. They are doing their job. Pictures will never be able to covey that across the Internet for me it seems, lol.

Try something very simple. A 4 hour peak, 1 hour ramp up/down. Middle color blue/white through out no shift. See if that helps. You may have already had your perfect light set up but decided to change because you noticed something or where impatient. Lights should be set and forget. Constantly cheating things causes problems.

I'm not sure how deep your tank is... but when I used my par meter I get 300ish at top when light is hung at 7 inches. and low 200s at top when hung at 15 inches. I didn't even bother measuring the bottom. and that's at 80% intensity.

Is your water black? Those numbers are not correct, or you have a defective fixture and should contact Kessil for repair/replacement. These are maybe the most powerful fixtures on the market.

Or the PAR meter is not working well. Either way there is a problem for sure. I think most owners would agree. We where getting 300 and plus everywhere but the sandbed. My tank is 24" deep. Two fixtures, 7" about water, 180 72"x24"x24", @66 intensity when measured. I am at 65% 4 hour peak, one hour ramp up and ramp down on corresponding time.

That is some very impressive coverage! I can only raise my lights as high as my canopy which isn't much. But looks like your tank is fully covered!

Mistaflicksta i have pretty much same dimention tank. How is the light working for you? I am worried about the depth, no problems there? I am still undecided about what light to go with because of my depth.

Here's my light with major diffuser over a Red Sea Reefer 350. I have to increase peak intensity from 65% to 80% with the diffuser. Don't really notice any increase in coverage or decrease in shadows...

The diffusers are meant to do that, only reduce the shimmer effect.

Reduced Shading - I took that as reducing shadows.

It also claims to create a wider spread.

What is your par reading? How high are the lights? Seems like the SPS are ok with it hung that high.

^^^^ I like it. What's your T5 combo? I'm running 2 Blue + and 2 Coral + with my AP700. My tank is Sps dominate and so far so good;all the frags are keeping their colors and encrusting.

I have 2 4-bulb ati fixtures. 4 blue+, 2 coral+, and 2 purple.
The tank is a 300DD. I tried 2 ap700 straddling the braces but ended up pulling the 3rd unit from a frag tank for get a little better end coverage with 3 ap700 in the middle with the T5's in the front and back.

Yes, but when all lights are on with the T5's it is very muted.
Several hours in the morning and evening the shimmer is awesome to me.
I ran halides for 16 years and the "Shimmer" is the main reason I went with the Kessils!
