When they be come infected, they have no desire to eat.I wish feeding was the trick, but it's not.Matter of fact you really don't have to eat them at all.Just when you do,they grow a lot faster.I was feeding before this happen. And then ,they could care less.

I was also feeding very heavy to the Aussie Acans when I first got them a year ago. After 4 or 5 months, I lost a couple of my original pieces that were doing so well and growing. I never figured it out, but one thing I thought it could be was that I had started soaking the frozen food in lots of Garlic, Selcon, and other vitamins. I thought it might be that since the few pieces I lost were all ones I had for 3+ months are were growing well, so they were fed the most. Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else thought too much Garlic might have hurt there corals.

Well the Interceptor seems to WORK!!!!!!! The rapid tissue recession/loss has come to a screeching HAULT over the past 24hrs. Granted I did do 3x the recomended dosage for my size tank it has worked out very well! I did throw in a cup of mag as well. It might be a little magical cocktail good luck everyone. The interceptor does seem to work.

I have done the interceptor in both tank so far. I have notice the white stuff at the place of receding has disappear. Some of my chalices are starting to puff up a little. My red watermelon that is about the size of a pencil eraser because of receding is now starting to send out tentacles and eating again. It has been about 16 hours now and the corals seem to look much better will keep everyone posted. thanks.

Great to hear ktar and patedship. Im glad you are having the same results that I had. The only thing that sucks is we all have lost so many beautiful corals before knowing how to treat it.

Talk about flippin mind boggling!!
The coincidence is strong. But not absolute, unfoturnately. Now Im wondering if it could be the vigerous regiment that the red bug treatment demands that could be the curing catalyst and not the actual medication itself? -Justin |

I know you guys were just thankfull to salvage what you could, but this demands looking into. I too have witnessed white lines of necrosis eating particular morphs of my LPS. Ive lost most colonies once that takes place namely echinophyllia frags, but thank God it has been few and far between, 4 months ago it was 2 Leptastrea colonies, and 2 blasto colonies. Which was no iffy new comer, these both had been establish and encrusting for years, even the blasto wellsi!! Heavy Mg doses, and waterchanges paired by filter and media changes helped me save 1 lep and 1 blasto colony. Hence my suspicion of the aggressive regiment warranted by medicating with RB meds..

When I dosed my tank I didnt do the vigorous water changes. I threw it in and that was that. I think I did a water change 2 or 3 weeks later. I put in a bag of carbon probably a week after the treatment so I know it was the medication that did it. That coupled with the fact the white lines disappeared a day after adding the medication. Here is what I have had hit by
Favia Leptastrae Lords Echinos Donut Fungia Blasto Micros

Glad everyone is getting good results with the Interceptor. So that must mean it is a parasite of some kind apparently?? I hope everyones corals recover well. You may want to do a couple more back-up treatments just to be sure.
Wonder if thats also why some of the Aussie lords have polyp bail out? Last edited by Znut Reefer; 06/02/2008 at 04:30 PM. |

update, just went home about an hour ago to check on the tank. Everything seem to be bouncing back into shape hopefully this receding stop. Good thing is that thing are starting to look fluffy again. I do notice that all the white line stuff is gone and did not show up when i feed the tank. things are starting to turn around i crossing my fingers. No the melting pot did not get affected.

This is really good stuff. Keep us updated.
I had my doubts that Interceptor would slow or stop the white Bands seen on these corals. I always thought that was a type of Bacteria that was feasting on the coral, or maybe a pathogen, or a mixture of both. But not a Crustacean, which is what Interceptor kills. Unless Crustaceans are not the only thing Interceptor kills. Anyone ever take a look at that white Mucus under a microscope?
