nice lookin good. For those of you that do not have an aquarium controller I found that walmart has excellent prices on digital lamp timers. Actually better prices the Loews or HD

little update... if you do hook it up to a controller (RKE in my case) DO NOT USE the solid state outlets. It doesn't draw enough power to kick off... dosed an entire bottle of alk before I figured it out.
When hooked up to the mechanical relay ... no problems at all. |

I had to use mine on the relay outlets on my reefkeeper 2 to get them to work. Any other outlet and it didnt draw enough power either.

I ordered the pump I talked about on that post http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...1#post16853084
and it's working great now I'm wating for 2 more pumps to arrive to complete my dosing projects I'll show you the photos when I'll finish. my total cost for 3 pumps will be 170$ for 3 pumps unit. (the controller is my Neptune AC3 and the electonic parts I already had at home) |

What rate pump would you guys use for automatic water changes? I have a 60g cube and was hoping to change a little over 1 gallon per day. I was thinking of a pump around 30-60ml per minute. I know the APT pumps are not designed to operate full time, otherwise a slow continuous water change is ideal. Two pumps are necessary to achieve this, unless it is possible to stack two heads on a single motor. Ryan

I think you will have to change the tubes once in a while, why not using a higher flow pump 100-200 ml ?

Made mine also but has any one used these on the reefkeeper 2? I have them on the Channel 2, 3, 6 and 7 but they do not always come on when they are supposed to and the relay outlets are already taken up........

hazic -- I was going with a slower ml drip rate to simulate a slow semi-constant water chagne, not just one big one every two weeks or so.
Caribbeanguy -- I know of my reefkeeper elite, that only outlets 1 & 4 will work with these pumps. It has somthing to do with the low current draw that these pumps have and the type of switches the reefkeeper has. Im not sure on the reefkeeper 2's, but digital aquatics do use two different type of switches on their PC4's. fd678 -- I bought my pumps directly from APT Industries, the makers of these pumps. Do a google search and you will find their web site. The project boxes to mount these pumps in can be aquired from Radio Shack.

I don't know what type of solid state relay Reefkeeper has, but I have mine on a diy Arduino base with only SS relays and works very well.
BTW. for enclosure I used a round plastic (blue) house conduit box from Lowe's ($0.8) hope it helps, Marian

Great thread! If anyone else would like a unit with 3 pumps (CAL, ALK, MAG), I found this larger box. The only thing I did differently was to mount the pumps in the bottom of the box instead of on the cover. This box also has tabs on it so that you can mount it inside your stand. Ive been using it for a few weeks now, and it works great.

I actually have 2 PC4s that I use for my lights and the pumps. If you don't want to buy another PC4, I'm sure you could use any timers for them.
