Lighting and clouds really do not do anything useful, even tho they are kind of cool. I have both of them turned real low both in intensity and probability.

I agree the lightning does nothing for the tank, just for us viewing it and our friends to say "ooohh, ahhh" when we show it off.

I like to think the clouds give the corals a break from the light intensity and provide a realism for the corals and fish you cant easily get with other lighting options. The clouds are overdone when using the geolocation weather feature though but I still use it hoping for some benefit over not having it on.

They mosh definitely do. My corals have swapped during lightning storms, I've noticed! And the clouds definitely give corals a "break" it's cool for us too lol

Any ideas what settings I should start off with a hydra 52 on a 30x12x12 tank
It's mount around 12 inches above the tank

I question the effect if clouds and lightning. Haven't seen any real proof.

Exactly the same.

As for spectrum intensities, check previous pages of the thread for some good reference points/advice.

One thing that's really benefited from the Hydras is my 1' sebae anemone. Previously it was sorta suffering (shrunken arms, less colour) under 150W MH, but now it is flowing majestically with fully extended arms and eats extremely well when I feed it.

Now all I need is to have it host my new clowns

I agree, clouds give corals a break and go one step further at mimmicking their natural environment.

I have four vega units and two hydra 52 units over my 350 gallon hexagon tank. Any suggestions on how to combine the spectrums? Right now I have them all on one automatic timer. I'm thinking about putting the Vegas on one channel and the hydra 52's on a separate channel. How should I configure them?

Holy, that's a lot of light on a small tank!

Yokohama, eh? I was there this past summer.

By timer do you mean director? If so and you want the 52's to match the intensity of the sols, yes you can put them on a separate channel but I believe the clouds may not work. I was going to do the same thing with my hydra/ hyrda26, but I just lowered the power and left them all on the same channel with no issues.

AI Hydra Settings Thread

I meant automatic setup. Can I run two automatic setup channels? So the Vegas on one channel and then the Hydras on another channel and have both automatic timers running simultaneously? I do have a Director.

I guess I just wondering the best way to configure and operate my for Vegas and two Hydras.

Yes I believe you can, AI suggested I try that when I added a hydra26 next to my hydra

Corals are doing good. My birdsnest is actually growing down and still pink at the core. I think that is a good sign. Still running the 14 hour with 5 hour ramps.

2.5 hours 0-80%, 2.5 hours 80-100%, 4 hours 100%, 2.5 hours 100-80%, 2.5 hours 80-0%

Have not changed my levels in a while
blues 100%
Violet 92%
White 85%
UV 82%
Green 75%
Red 70%

Clouds 10% probability 20% intensity
Lighting 3% probability 15% intensity
Moon on with deep blue at 4%

Hi all! I'm sorry if an answer to this question has already been posted. I read through the first 20 pages (and the last). I may have missed something between pages 20 and 90.
Anyway, here is my current situation -
100(ish) Gallons
60 w
18 D
22 H

Currently using Marineland Reef LEDs
Ordered X3 AI Hydra 26s, which will sit approximately 2-3 inches AWL

I have a mixed tank with primarily LPS' and Zoas but I have a couple of softies and SPS' scattered about.

So, some thoughts on the best way to acclimate this tank? I'm pretty worried because it's so close to the water line and likely way more intense than my current settings.

Thinking about setting up with easy mode but not sure as to what % I should run them on.

Thanks very much in advance!

At that close to the water line I would start all colors off at a very low percentage like around 10% and go up very slowly over a number of weeks of not months.

FYI I have my 52's about 13" over the water line on all SPS tank and I started at 20% and moved up from there.

Anyone have a 100g 60 x 18 x 20 tank? Im upgrading from my 60 and am wondering if I "need" an additional light. Don't think I do cuz I can go higher AWL and higher percentage. Just curious...

How long do you keep your frags on the tank floor before moving them up? Can't find a formula that works with my hydra 52

80 Mixed Reef Tank over a 55 sump
Fish, Inverts, Nems, SPS, LPS, Shrooms

I run two Hydra 52's I think about 9 inches above the water line.
I've been running these lights for about 6 months now.
Things seem pretty happy, though I intend to fiddle endlessly to find the right settings for my tank.

Need to do more research and fiddling.

These images show the relevant settings I am using:
