Seeking input on LPS tank design

I have a soft coral tank and an SPS tank. I recently bought a Red Sea 170 (37G DT, 47G total) on craiglist - got a deal I couldn't resist even though I wasn't "in the market."

I have settled on two things. First, as far as fish it will be a single species tank. Second, I will make it feature acans as that is one coral I really lack (I only have two frags).

So, anyone have any ideas on the fish? I have been leaning heavily towards Angler/Frogfish after really looking into mantis shrimp. I rejected mantis shrimp out of fear of rockwork destruction - but could a tank be designed so as not to worry about this?

Someone else suggested a dwarf lionfish. I am considering that as well.

Finally, one coral I have failed at twice is bubble coral. My last one wasted away over months despite trying to feed it mysis shrimp (and appearing to feed it multiple times). I would love, love to do well at one of these. What gives with these?
