I added some frags to my tank tonight.

Here's some updated pictures of my tank, too.

Looking good flip. What is the frag in the back, kinda lavender? It looks pretty cool. I'll check your response tomorrow as my pillow is calling my name.

Thanks bro!

The guy that gave it to me said it's a purple birdsnest. I stated that it looked like a pink birdsnest, and he said that it's actually a purple one and kind-of rare (don't know much about all of that, but I love the way it looks). I didn't get a chance to see it before he put it in the bag, but when I put it in my tank it woke right up!

Definitely, Eddie! The guy that gave it to me just requested that I give him a frag of it, if/when it grows out. That's the least I can do, right? (Love this hobby!)

On another note, I'm getting five more frags tonight. Can't wait!

They canopy for our AGA92 has been built and the CoralVue Lumen Bright Wide Mini will be here next week.

Picture of the canopy during construction:

I would like to add two 24" bulbs (T5, VHO T8, whatever), one on each side of the tank.

The LFS I frequent has the Hagen GLO T5 High Output system but they don't seem to come with individual reflectors, only dual reflectors which will not meet my needs.

Now I could run those bulbs without reflectors but I would prefer not to "waste" that much light.

Anyone have any suggestions on a solution that would meet my design requirements?

Very nice Reefscape. I kind of like the greenery in your tank. I know its a nuisance, but if it can be controlled, it makes for a very natural reefscape, reefscape.

Nice job. Once those frags start growing the will look awesome under 20k's. The color should really pop.

HAHAHAHA! Yes the greenery has been a problem lately, but i never upsized my clean up crew from my old 20gal, and the only fish i have to eat anything is a False Lemonpeel which just kind of picks at stuff here and there. I'm making a trip to a new LFS tomorrow, so i'm hoping they will have a Tang that i can bring home. As for the 20k, i kept going back and forth in my mind between 14 and 20, but i couldn't be happier with the choice i made! I am completely in love with the blue color off of this bulb, and am taking out the 12k T-5 and replacing that with another Reef Blue 10k. I'm really hoping that this will give me the look i want. Also i can't wait for the frags to grow out and start filling in my tank. I've been pretty focused on SPS at the moment, but i'm picking up an Acan pack in the near future (6 frags for $150), so i think i'll have a pretty well mixed reef. Thanks for the comments!

Thanks so much for the kind words Mike. I just made a trip to ABC Reefs in Syracuse, NY and picked up a few more frags and a beautiful Scopas Tang. It's been raised in a customers tank for the last 4 years and is still only about 4", so i'm really hoping i found one that will stay kind of small. I do have plans and a home for him if he gets too big, but already today i saw him picking some Algae off the rocks so he's a winner in my mind! I'll try to get some pics on soon.

Kelso enjoy it! I made the trip last weekend and walked out of there with a new fish, some frags, and an empty wallet! The prices were great, but i ran out of money before i was done picking out what i wanted. They have a lot of great stuff there, and if i were to get everything i wanted, i may as well be a part owner of that store! Haha! Seriously though, the guys there are totally awesome, selection of fish and coral is wonderful, and prices are very reasonable. I remember you saying you'd like to set up a nano tank for an Angler, and you should really talk to Tim at ABC. He is really into them more that i am. I just saw mine in the store and had to get it, but he really knows his stuff when it comes to them. He has a HUGE pink one in a 54gal corner bow, and a small White Clown Angler in the back small display tanks. He would definately be able to help you more than i would. Tell him that Jim from Elmira said the Tang is doing great! I just got a tank raised Scopas Tang from there for only $30! I was very impressed with everything about the store and i can't wait to go back up there. I'm sure you will enjoy your visit!

Hey Reefscape15. I LOVED it! But unfortunately I couldnt buy anything for me. I was at my parent's for the weekend and i went on saturday. No where to put the goods till I went home. It was AWESOME though. there were 4 anglers there and they fed them all for us to watch. I'm so getting an angler tank! There are 2 Anthias that I was obsessed with and I'm trying to figure out how I can get them home with me everything there was such high quality.. from the fish, to the coral to the zoas! even the Snails were neat! it was nice to look around. I felt like I was at an aquarium. Def going back when I can take something home with me.

Hi

I am considering having this custom made, but wonder about the strength of such a tank. I am yet to talk to the shop who will make it but what do you guys think about glass thickness and bracing.?

If it's going to be glass i'd go with probably 1/2" just to be on the safe side. I'm not really sure what the capacity would be but my 54gal is only 3/8" and the front piece is almost 4' curved. I'm only at 24" high though, so you might want to upsize just for piece of mind if it's going to be made to your liking anyways.

Kelso - That place is so nice isn't it? It's really a shame that you couldn't get anything home with you, but it does give you an excuse to go back again soon. Did they feed that huge purple Angler type fish (i forgot what they said it was) in the middle tank between the two frag tanks in the back? That thing was AWESOME!!!! I think i would choose there over anywhere i've been to get an Angler from. Tim really seems to know what he's talking about with them. I'm always looking for an excuse to get back up there, but for now i've got a $100 order from That Fish Place and another $90ish from Finnyas in Van Etten

If you take a look at my build thread http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=42263 you'll see that's very close to my tank. My glass is 5/8".
