P90x anyone?
Anyone try/do the P90x workouts? I heard they are killer. I am about to start up my own slightly modified version.
How did you like your results? |

i, umm, aquired p90x but i haven't done it. i watched like 1/2 of one workout and it seemed pretty hardcore. i've done jillian michaels 30 day shred, and the biggest loser last chance workout, and i've been doing kickboxing too..
the p90x workouts are like an hour too, and my baby will workout with me for about half an hour, but she gets antsy if it goes longer.. |

I know 3 people who do it and they are in great shape. They say it's brutal, but addicting. I don't think I could get thru one right now, to be honest. Just doing a ton of indoor training on the bike with some sit ups, pull ups, and push ups thrown in. We've started taking the baby to the gym a few times a week. Hopefully be back to former self in short order.

So i tried it... Let me tell you... Well worth the $$$!!!! I did the chest and back workout my first day and i got about 20 minutes into the hour workout and almost passed out. I seriously got light headed. so i took a breather for about 5 minutes and then i started the abs workout, which is supposed to follow the chest workout and got about 7 minutes into the 30 min workout and got even more light headed than the first time and called it quits for the day.
IMO, if you stay with it... RESULTS are gaurunteed!!!! But the only problem is how dedicated you will be. I got about 3 weeks into it and lost 8lbs. then i gave up. I loved the kenpo workout... I literally dripped sweat the whole workout, and i dont sweat much. If you want me to burn a copy for you if you dont wanna spend as much $$$ or if anyone wants some copies, ill sell them dirt cheap. I also have the reading material and instruction guides in pdf format so i can email them or give you another disk with them on there... PM me if your intersted.

a couple of alternative suggestions....a bowflex. I bought mine new last year...but you can pick one up on CL from people who gave up on their New Year's resolutions. 30mins. 3x a week = weight loss results. 30mins 5x a week = muscle build. plus, i teach a yoga class once a week.

I just completed my first chest and back and the ab ripper x. The ab ripper is total 275 reps in about 15 min. I only got about 200 in. The chest and back is def a killer i need to work on that one lol. They go from push ups to pull up back to diamond push up and ect. for 1 hr about 20-30 reps a piece.I did max 10-15 reps threw out that video.Thats intense. I am burning but in a good way.
I am running a slightly self modified version because i am a pole already lol. I do not need to loose any weight. So i am on a high calorie diet geared towards putting on muscle mass, and doing less of the cardio type workouts. I have always been skinny never could gain a pound, but i was def not healthy. I smoked ciggs heavy for 10yrs and just quit this past august. Never worked out a day in my life. I may be interested in the reading material. I will pm you. I got my DVDS burned.lol Bow flex is nice but i went cheap with the resistance bands, my reef tank eats all my money. I enjoyed my first session. I am already addicted, and cant wait to press play tomorrow! Last edited by Bluephish13; 01/28/2010 at 01:32 PM. |

I did it for about a month. The Chest and back one was my favorite, but when you get to the plyometrics you will want to shoot yourself! lol Just stick with it. I am more of a Gym guy, so thats why I didn't finish it.

Done it, even got the wife to do it LOVE IT!!! You are sore after but it is very addicting. The best part is you dont feel retarded doing it at home. And you dont need 1000 dollars worth of equipment

PIMPIN -I have yet to use the dvd burner on my mac mini. I would PM faze. I think the p90x is 30+gigs, my dad said it took him a while to burn. Oh Man my chest is tender today. That chest and back routine is def a killer. Just did plyometrics. That was not that bad. I was able to keep up good on that. I am getting my G/f to start. She has not even done it yet and is already complaining. Thanks for all the replies!!! Last edited by Bluephish13; 01/29/2010 at 02:47 PM. |

I like p90x also like http://bodyforlife.com/ which I think preceded p90x. Both work well. I think do the p90x exercises and use the bfl for diet and you'd have a magic bullet so long as motivation and dedication are there. But really it doesn't matter what the hell you do. Exercising 3-5 times per week and eating a serving of protein and a serving of low gi carbs 5 times a day all keeping fat down is going to yeild absolutely positive results no matter what.

I like to break in new work-out DVDs by watching them on my computer in bed with a snack.
Helps put it into perspective |

lol to all.
The push up variations are really crazy. During chest and back i did total of 188 push ups (inclined, diamond, military, regular, wide, and under the fence) and with 88 mixed pull ups on a bar. That was only about half the reps they did. They total 358 or something. No matter what you do that many of anything you will get shredded. Anyone know a good brand of protein?. I just finished a jug of masstech it was good but really really expensive, and ran out really quick. |
