And its going below Planning on breeding copapods, and chaeto, and feather dusters galor!, maybe a little shrimp to clean up. One thing I am amazed by is my tanks ability to sustain the snail population, there are snails of every sort in the tank! and so will there be in the sump!

In this picture you can see I have both koralias pointing in the same direction on one side a little towards the front glass. They go on and off every 15 seconds... its whatever if I burn em out, ill get ones that can support the hydor smart wave, this thing is perfect for the tank.

Looks great. I hope everything starts growing better. Excited to see a sump. Are you running a protein skimmer?

I dont think i will run a protein skimmer, I have a lotta feather dusters and filter feeders I really like and dont want to take their food away, I dont mind doing water changes, and with the sump I think the water will be even better quality. (I tested ALL my params last night Salinity- 1.026 Nitrates- 0 Phosphates- 0 Ph- 7.7 Ca-460) so the water is already pretty stable. Im just hoping the sump with LR doesnt screw everything up.

You adding the liverock is a concern of mine. I think as long you you get pre cured lr. maybe you should put it in a bucket of saltwater to bring it home for minimal die off? Idk

Yes Brian that is what I plan on doing, lol Im getting cured LR and I plan on bringing it home in buckets. I was thinking about ordering online from Gulfliverock.com because i was so happy with the rock I got from them before and I would like the diversity. But I dont want a cycle, and I really need to be picky as to the size if im going to be breeding copapods. Here is a thread I started and asked the question about cycling: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2159107

If the reason for buying cured rock is to reduce the chance of a mini-cycle then wouldn't you want more die-off? Especially if dry rock is the extreme choice to reduce the risk.

But dry rock is bad to add to a established tank. Gotta use lr. Maybe just add a little bit more and more every week till you get your amount.

Last night my DT cracked down the back. I need to find a (preferably) pre drilled 29g deep today. If anyone knows where I can find this in the area I would greatly appreciate it. Here's what happened.

ey yey yey,My tank has had the overflow box and return in it for months but I put in a new sump when I got home from work (5:40) and started putting water in it, I turned the pump on with like 4g in the pump part of the sump and tested out that the overflow box worked and everything, it did so I continued to make water and pour it in.

around (9pm) my gf was cutting onions at the table and she heard a crack, and called me, and I ran over and heard water, and I looked and water was gushing out the back of the tank. I quickly slathered a ton of silicone on the back to seal it off, and held it with towels (she quickly ran and got towels) then I started siphoning water into buckets and the sump, and grabbing corals and putting them in the sump and buckets,

now we have everything in buckets and the sump, all the gravel out in a bucket, and all the water out. I called off of work tomorrow so i can SCOUR the surrounding area for someplace that has a predrilled 29g deep.

This is hilarious the first two days I had everyone in the new tank, this snail and the hermit crab decided to do this... I pulled them apart and put them both on seperate sides of the tank...and both times they went right back to the same position! strange

Soo yesterday I got a little yellow tang fish, hes so cute, and Justin Bolton hooked me up with a nice little baby head of todds torch (I hope he does well) and some kick *** zoas. super psyched at how the tank is starting to look. I love my underwater garden.

BTW Idk if a moderator is reading this, but I think this tank thread should be moved out of the nano reef tank thread as I have a 57g now. I would also like my thread to be titled "My 57g Rimless Reef"

Ill get some pics up tonight... lol Kinda another crisis happened last night. I made a really dumb mistake. I turned my water on with my rodi unit to fill up a bucket, and it generally makes 5 gallons every 1 1/2 -2 hrs (my water pressure isnt great), and then we left the house to have dinner with my gf's parents. 4 hrs later I get a call from my landlord saying my downstairs neighbor had water coming down through his ceiling lol. Dont know how bad the damage is but my goodness lol. What a stupid thing to do. I turned on the water to fill a bucket then left the house haha. What a moron lol

I went down and apologized to my neighbor, he is really cool and down to earth my gf and I got him a 25$ to tim hortins card, so we could peek at what we might be responsible to fix, and thank god.... there is NO damage whatsoever. No yellowing because luckily i distilled the water before it dumped down lol. Disaster averted, but lesson learned... mak RODI in the sink or bathtub!!!
