I broke the Miami hurricane above when I tried to remove it from the rock. It was originally glued to an epoxy base that was on top of the rock. I got lazy and the chalice overgrew the epoxy base and onto the rock. So when I tried to move it because it and the mummy eye above it were wrestling over real estate, it broke. Well it obviously did not go as planned and my perfect circular chalice is a little goofy shaped now Last edited by watchguy123; 07/22/2013 at 10:56 PM. |

It looks like there has been a growth spurt of about a 1/4 inch around most of these chalices in the last two weeks, you can kind of tell by looking at the top picture in the previous post to compare. Look at how close the pink boobies is to everything today. Almost does not make sense, perhaps it is just the angle of the picture.

It's a chaoti wrasse, relatively recent addition. Came from a fellow reefers tank who had it for two years or so. Eats pellets and flakes and seems to get along with everyone else. I think it has extraordinary color and markings

Giving my chalice a hand.
Actually,I lifted it up so it would not adhere to the underlying reef scape but alas I waited too long from the last time and lost a little edge of it. It is still pretty darn large and my favorite, it is not a rainbow but it is still pretty exciting. After the picture, put it right back on the reef scape where it lives. Kind of challenging to hold one arm in the tank and use the other arm to take a picture, good thing I wasn't chewing gum and walking at the same time. |

Thank you, the 180 display uses a geissman fixture with 3x250 radiums and 4x80 watt t5's, the frag tank uses an ATI fixture with 6x24 watt t5s. The frag tank is just under 24x24x12, I need to double check those dimensions though

Its not a chalice but it is becoming big and round
Tyree Agent orange (two views of same colony). The metal halides turned off on the top picture, the bottom picture is both halides and t5s And check out the pink in the green eyes Last edited by watchguy123; 10/08/2013 at 10:23 PM. |
