Anyone with chiragra experience? Is it possible to make them more interactive?

Or just not so reclusive? Lol I was thinking about starting to give her food from my fingers instead of tongs... I almost never see her leave her little burrow :/ have had her for at least 2 years now... I admit that I do need to make her 10g a little more interesting by adding more rocks so she might feel more comfortable

Mine goes through periods of interactivity/activeness. I read online many people either have reclusive or crazy active chiragras. I guess try the usual "feed less, dont feed at burrow entrance" strategy.

Yeah, I’m going to redo her tank a bit and see how she and my pseudochromis get along... he needs a new home and I’m tired of having an empty 10g! If they’re fine, they’ll go into my 29g

Stock the tank with small live prey and stop feeding frozen food as much as possible. Feeding live ghost shrimp normally provokes an aggressive feeding response in my experience.

Chiragra's are generally tempered this way, but like all stomatopods, individual experience will vary on the specimen.

I just got my first time Chiragra about a month ago, and she's quite the character, disappears for days, then suddenly she's just darting and swimming around the tank for a good hour, usually the day after feeding, its actually entertaining which I didn't expect.

My tank light for her is off all the time except in niche cases to check and make sure she's alright. Her activity could relate to her feeling like the tank is a giant burrow in the dark rather than open water.

Puffer, octopus, and mantis shrimp fanatic!
