If you are talking about on the remote management page under Administration, turn remote management off, or put it back to the default port (which is 8080, IIRC).

Your port forwarding setup is good now.

i see an obvious mistake in ip address. earlier you stated ur apex is at ip address of 192.168.1.35 but on the port forwarding your forwarding port to 192.168.1.135
remove the 135 and replace it with 35.
your getting an error because when someone/you try hostname, traffic goes upto ur router and gets stuck because there is nothing at that ip address of 192.168.1.135 port 1593

also u need to type this way to get outside access:

http://apex.dyndns-home.com:1593/

Note: fix the ip address on the port forwarding page first to 192.168.1.35 (if thats ur ip for apex)

Good catch! I totally missed that.

But even so, the router should not be presenting a "Linksys E3200" login prompt on the port used in the port forwarding, which it is.

the only way one can get the router at port 1593 is if he turned his remote management port to 1593 as well.

I'm having trouble setting up my linksys router to access from internet as well. I have the port forwarding set up correctly and DynDNS setup on my router but I still can't access it from the internet. Does the linksys "setup" - "basic setup" page have anything special that needs to be done?

Are you trying the hostname while at home, or via the Internet? If you are at home, use your smartphone and try with wifi disabled. Or get a friend to test.

If you are trying via the Internet, disable the remote management feature in your router.

I've been trying using my smartphone on the mobile network (no wifi). Remote management is disabled. I am able to get to the Apex page when I'm on my network from home by typing in the router address with port forwarding (192.168.1.1:2578) so I'm confident the port forwarding feature is working.

You are using the wrong IP address for external access. 192.168.1.1 is the router's LAN or private address. You need to use the router's Internet or public address. Look it up in the router, or visit www.ipchicken.com

Sorry for the confusion, I am using 192.168.1.1 while i'm on my home network, not for outside my LAN. I'm using the the router's public address in my DynDNS account.
