Building the rock towers were fun and very time consuming. The dry Pukani rock is easy to work with, although it breaks easily. One minute I would be chiseling a small hole, the next, a large chunk would fall off. The challenge was getting flat surfaces that I could balance the rocks upon.

I ended up using the worlds greatest tool, The Sawzall!!!! I went through several blades but it was worth it.

To bond the rocks, I ordered Emaco S88-CI from Best Materials. It is good concrete mix that is safe to use. The towers have been curing for about 5 weeks now.

Some new Inhabitants

So I thought I would post some of my latest additions. First up is a pair of Mustard Guttatus Tangs that will spend their next 4 months being spoiled in Quarantine. I had to move a lot of things in my main display to accommodate this large Ritteri Anemone (16" - 18"). Can't decide yet what Clowns I will soon be getting to host in it...

We've finally started to see smaller ones showing up as well. Mostly see larger ones...

I just finished reading the entire thread, wow, what an amazing beautiful tank and collection! Those fishes are beautiful and very happy.
Amazing work on those tangs, really love the MI, one of my favorite fish.
I just read all of Peter's and mr. Wilson's thread and was demvastated to read about the disaster after all those years. I was very happy to read that you tank is going strong when I reached the last current page.
Thank you so much for sharing and I will be following along.

Talking Sincerely, thank you.

Dan,

I just finished reading/skimming this thread (probably 6.5+ hours haha) and you have inspired me to one day pursue one of my life long dreams to have a tank similar to yours. Alas, as I am in the Air Force it is best I stick with my small 29g biocube for now. Fortunately, I have learned a have much to practice and learn in tank husbandry from reading your thread (especially since I am not familiar with much of the equipment you use!). Your tank has grown to be absolutely beautiful!!!

A few questions:

1) Given you live in Tucson, have you found a way to recycle your waste water when you do water changes?
2) Could you post links to a couple threads of some of the builds that have inspired you, or perhaps you have learned much from? I am sure I don't speak for myself when I say we would love to learn from those who have inspired your tank.
3) Would you please tell Sam I appreciate his use of some of the songs from the Finding Nemo score? I chuckled once I realized what the music was from, quite creative.

Thank you for putting so much time into your tank! I hope you're able to find those longnose black tangs you've been looking for! If I happen to get stationed in Tucson I'll look you up, or maybe if I'm driving through one day.

Thank you isdaboy! If you couldn't tell before reading my thread, "Tangs" are my favorite fish.

I was also devastated learning about Peter's tank!

Vikinglord13, I really appreciate all of the compliments! It makes the thread worthwhile! If you are ever stationed in Tucson or Sierra Vista, you are more than welcome to come check things out!

To answer your questions:

1) I have the waste water from my RO running into the garden.
2) There are tons of threads that offered inspiration, but none more than Chingchai's.
3) Sam will be visiting next month sometime and I will pass along your message!

Corals, Livestock and Drygoods

Hey guys, over the last few years, many of you ask on the forum or send me private messages, asking me: "Where did you get that coral" or "How did you find those fish?"

I am very proud to share with you, my LFS is now a proud sponsor of the Reef Central Community!

Check them out! I am 100% confident that you will be very happy with what they have to offer!

Two or three times now my Seahorse's have gotten down to business. The problem I have with my Seahorse tank is my 2 Mandarin Goby's and a Fairy Wrasse that I can't seem to catch. Anytime babies are released, they quickly become a meal.

Ha ha. I think the only way to get the wrasse will be to drain the tank!

Sadly I won't be attending this year. Had a bit of a heart attack and not allowed to travel.
Drink some for me!

Incredible!

Outstanding job! It took me the entire week to read all 117 pages but it is well worth it! What a great 2+ year story to read over the course of a week.

Although I don't have a tank currently (had to break it down last year) I'm priming the wife the next tank is going to be big, 1000 gal. The good news, I showed her your videos/ pics she said "not until the kitchen is done". That's a great sign, she didn't say NO!!

I'm excited to follow along in real time and expect to start my own build thread in a year.
