Talk about a high electric bill

I was fortunate enough to have dinner with some folks from a large public aquarium a few weeks ago and was told an interesting fact.

The annual electric bill is about 2.2 million dollars. Their second highest operating cost next to labor. If my math is correct, that's almost $200,000 per month.

Damn, and I thought I had it bad.

I believe they mentioned their largest tank is about 350,000 gallons.

Cool stuff.

Ron

I know LBAOP built a co-generation electricity plant on site several years back. It covers a portion of their usage, but not all.

They are also charged for how much saltwater they send down the drain to the wastewater treatment plant.

Their monthly food bill is a 5 figure number.
